Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our dynamic team based on a starting hourly rate of £15 / hour on a self employed contractor basis.


At Save the World Club (www.savetheworldclub.org), we are dedicated to uplifting and empowering the community.


We do this through facilitating eco-friendly use of spaces, redistributing fresh foods to vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable lifestyle choices.


Our work includes all members across the community and approaches local humanitarian issues with the environment at the forefront.


Due to our expanding activities and projects following a move to our new premises, we are looking for an experienced finance administrator to join our growing team.

This will be a part-time position based on-site of 3 - 4 days per week.


Main job responsibilities:

  • Managing the recording of incoming grants, sales, other income and donations;
  • Managing the outgoing expenses and petty cash;
  • Processing of supplier invoices;
  • Providing information to support budget preparation, cash-flow forecasting and management reports;
  • Monthly reconciliation of accounts;
  • Ad hoc finance support as directed by the fund-raising manager and the trustees; and
  • Liaising with external accountants for year end reporting


Role requirements:

  • Solid awareness of business accounts and the annual accounts cycle;
  • Proficient user of Xero accounting software;
  • Good knowledge of Google Drive and MS Office;
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload to meet fixed deadlines; and
  • Experience of charity bookkeeping is desirable but not essential.

Job Specification

We are looking for a motivated individual who would like to help support the community through the charity's efforts with crucial financial tracking support.


Through this role, you will work with warehouse manager Eric Miller and funding manager and director Dr Tariq Shabbeer to help us track incoming, outgoing and expense data to enable the charity to work more effectively by:

Using the charities chosen accountancy software to capture:

  • A general financial ledger;
  • A purchase ledger;
  • A sales ledger; and
  • A cash ledger.


Working with Dr Shabbeer and Eric Miller, you will help track receipts of various types, bills and incoming grant funding.


This role will likely also be working with Funding support admin volunteers to make tracking of funding easier.

We expect this role to be between 3-4 days per week.

  • To be registered as self employed and manage tax;
  • Excellent computing skills;
  • Experience of managing the finance of a charity or not for profit organisation;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Good English writing skills and
  • Flexible and able to work varying hours.

Pay: From £1,200.00 per month
