A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to join a thriving, product-led business based in Cirencester. This is a standalone, all-encompassing position - ideally suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys full autonomy and thrives in a hands-on environment.
Working in a business that operates on stock ordering and credit terms, cashflow is absolutely critical - and this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring it's tightly managed and optimised to support ongoing growth. The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll take full responsibility for the finance function, with key duties including:
- Managing day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, receivable, credit control, payroll, and reconciliations
- Closely monitoring cashflow, ensuring the business meets its obligations and is well positioned for growth
- Producing monthly management accounts, financial reports, and regular cashflow forecasts
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns, and working with external accountants on year-end accounts
- Supporting strategic planning around stock purchasing, credit exposure, and supplier payments
- Continuously improving financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and strengthen controls
Requirements
About You
We're looking for someone who is confident taking ownership and happy operating as a one-person finance department. You'll be naturally proactive, highly organised, and commercially aware. Key experience includes:
- Proven background in a broad finance role within an SME, ideally in a product or stock-based business
- Strong understanding of cashflow management and credit control
- Excellent technical accounting skills including reconciliations and ledger management
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with modern accounting software
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with non-finance stakeholders
- A hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up attitude with great attention to detail
