About your work
We are looking for a recently qualified Accountant with some tax experience to join our evolving finance team. This is a key role within the finance team, combining support for the technical accounting team and providing input on a range of tax matters for the business, contributing to the implementation of more effective corporate tax compliance and planning strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IFRS accounting principles and some experience with corporate tax in the financial services industry.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting
- Contribute to accounting assessments and guidance to ensure the business complies with IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- Draft accounting documentation including accounting policies and papers.
- Partner with finance team colleagues to address accounting and audit queries.
- Participate in finance transformation initiatives focused on improving process efficiency and automation across the organisation.
Tax
- Provide input on tax implications of business decisions to help develop strategies that optimise the tax position of the company.
- Contribute to tax assessment on product and entity profitability reviews.
- Liaise with HMRC and external tax advisers.
- Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate with the external tax compliance team on their preparation and filing of corporation tax returns.
About you
- Recently qualified ACA accountant with audit and some corporate tax experience.
- Exposure to financial services with good understanding of financial products.
- Knowledge of IFRS accounting principles, particularly IFRS9, IFRS10 and IFRS15.
- Familiarity with corporate tax and deferred tax concepts and calculations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude to assess the high level accounting, tax and commercial impacts of products / proposals.
- High energy, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
