Financial Controller – 1-Year FTC

Location: London or Luxembourg | Hybrid Working

A fast-paced reinsurance business is seeking a Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed-term contract to lead financial reporting, planning, and internal controls across its international structure. This is a broad role with hands-on exposure and potential for strong internal collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the entity and its branch.
• Lead the annual planning process and conduct detailed variance analysis.
• Partner with department heads to understand budget deviations and recommend solutions.
• Act as the key contact between Finance and Risk, overseeing the internal control register.
• Provide accounting support and review both recurring and one-off transactions.

• Strong team player who builds relationships across departments.
• Comfortable working independently, with the judgment to escalate when needed.

Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in financial control, management, or reporting within reinsurance or insurance.
• Qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CPA) with deep technical accounting knowledge.
• Confident engaging senior stakeholders and challenging existing processes.
• Solid understanding of financial controls and governance frameworks.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills; knowledge of tools like JIRA is a plus.
• Fluent in English; French is a bonus.
