Fitness Instructor

From £10.00 to £12.21 per hour - 16 hours per week
Primary Job Purpose
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Fitness Instructor to join our Leisure team. The successful applicant will enjoy working within both a gym and studio environment, helping everyday people achieve their health and fitness goals.
Lifeguard certification is required or will be provided.
They must have a friendly, outgoing nature and be proactive in achieving the challenges set for them. They will be passionate and enthusiastic about health and fitness and will be prepared to build and maintain a good rapport with our ever-expanding client base.
About The Role
Roles and Responsibilities
- Be passionate about our members’ needs.
- Responsible for conducting group exercise classes, inductions, programmes and assessments in accordance with operational fitness guidelines to set, agree continually re assess exercise goals in relation to members lifestyle and personal requirements
- Develop and facilitate on an ongoing basis the right programme for a member through interpreting and gaining a thorough understanding of members needs
- Vary a member’s gym experience by consistently stimulating and motivating via a personal programming weight management, nutrition and alternative exercise suggestions and formats
- Build effective and appropriate member relationships through meaningful interaction and provision of specialist coaching and advise
- Using own initiative, manage time effectively on the gym floor to ensure goals relating to interaction/programming, equipment upkeep/cleanliness and health and safety are achieved
- Work closely alongside Club Management in developing member retention/extension initiatives. Take ownership and accountability through active involvement and participation with associated activities and through gauging awareness of reasons for terminations. Proactively initiate and undertake remedial action where appropriate (e.g. arranging re-assessments, interaction)
- Regularly attend Health and Fitness training and workshops as appropriate. Successfully complete associated practical assessments and exams to ensure achievement and operation at the required standard
- Gain an understanding of and proactively work as an integral team member towards the achievement of Departmental and operational targets
- Operate effectively within the corporate operational fitness guidelines
- Carry out pool water quality tests and checks as trained and as per brand standards
- Carry out supervision of poolside and implementation of club rules on both wet and dry sides
- Maintain high standard of personal appearance and hygiene including wearing and maintaining a clean uniform at all times.
- Follow all company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook including any department specific procedures
- Be aware of and follow all Health and Safety procedures
- Carry out Lifeguard duties if required.

Key Skills
- NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor or equivalent (Essential)
- NVQ Level 3 Personal Training or equivalent (Desirable)
- NPLQ or Pool attendant (Desirable)
- Pool plant operators Certificate (Desirable)
- Lifeguard Certificate (Essential). Training and certification will be provided if not already held.

Desired Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 Personal Training or equivalent
- NPLQ or Pool attendant
- Pool plant operators Certificate
- Willingness to undertake further training.
- Knowledge of hotels industry
Required Criteria
- English GCSE grade 4/C or above
- Maths GCSE grade 4/C or above
- NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor or equivalent (Essential)
- Current First Aid at Work Qualification Level 3
- Up to date Health and Safety Training
- Attend Health and Fitness training workshops to update CPD
- Experience of working in fitness and leisure
- Experience of delivering exercise classes, induction programmes and assessments
