Description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer, with a passion for fluid mechanics or thermodynamics, to work within and lead multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of development projects in the Industrial, Consumer, Energy and Defence Industries. The role will require you to immerse yourself in the fundamentals of our client’s problems and then design, build, and test novel solutions.

Why we need you

We are expanding and growing with plenty of exciting projects on the horizon and we have a fantastic opportunity for a mechanical engineer with a love of fluidics to get deep into the details and take a leading role in technical delivery for our clients.

What you’ll get to do

You’ll be working with a diverse set of skilled colleagues as part of the development team. You’ll lead workstreams and entire projects. The majority of the time you’ll be focused on delivering the best mechanical design engineering possible for our multi-national clients, understanding their needs and communicating clearly and effectively.

You’ll be hands-on in solving really tough mechanical challenges, applying your fluidics skills and also your broader set of skills which may include design of mechanical components, design of systems, electronics, mechatronics, or anything else you can bring. Some examples of activities you may undertake are:

  • Working in small multidisciplinary project teams
  • Communicating with clients and reporting results
  • Carrying out research into cutting edge technologies and markets
  • Taking part in concept generation and problem-solving workshops
  • Evaluating ideas using evidence from modelling (CFD & FEA) or experimentally obtained evidence
  • Preparation of detailed designs, from system to component level
  • Manufacturing of prototype parts and assemblies, hands-on or by liaising with suppliers
  • Testing of designs to ensure they meet the client’s and end-customers’ needs

You’ll be working on projects that span a wide range of industries including food and beverages, agriculture, biotech, aerospace, transport, products and devices, and industrial processes. Our projects often involve product design, industrial automation, connected devices, dispense of fluids, heating and cooling, sustainability, and high and low volume production.

There will be constant new challenges and variety in the projects you’ll work on. There will be new projects and the chance to work with new colleagues frequently. You will shape your own career path and areas of specialism through the work and responsibilities you take on and excel at.

What you will bring

The role of Senior Engineer entails the ability to take responsibility for completing design tasks and to provide inspirational ideas and quality work to a team of colleagues. You’ll bring impressive mechanical engineering ability and enthusiasm to the role, an excitement for engineering, and great team working abilities, including the ability to define tasks clearly and communicate them to others to carry out.

You’ll have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related subject) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to design original yet pragmatic solutions to problems using sound engineering judgement and communicate your ideas to colleagues and clients.
  • Analytical skills in fluidics including a strong grasp of fluidic principles. In addition, you may have proven proficiency in computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, microfluidics, aerosols, foams, bubbles, multiphase flows, acoustics or a similar field.
  • Proven track record of excellent design work, working in a diverse team, and successful delivery.
  • You may also have, experience in CAD, design for manufacture, software skills, and other technical skills that show technical breadth.
