The Fund Accounting Supervisor will supervise the pooled vehicle administration team, providing direction and guidance. Ensure staff understands and follows fund accounting strategies, policies and procedures. Review work product drafted by less experienced staff such as quarterly financial statement, Board of Trustee materials, marketing materials, etc. Oversee the preparation of annual reports and other regulatory filings. Serve as a resource for fund accounting questions or issues.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Supervise the pooled vehicle administration team, overseeing the daily operations of the staff and setting priorities. Provide direction and guidance on transaction processing, monthly and quarterly fund accounting, financial statements, Board of Trustee materials, etc.
  • Ensure fund accounting strategies, policies and procedures are understood and followed by entire team.
  • Review monthly and quarterly financial statements, Board of Trustee materials, budgets, accrual rates and marketing materials drafted by junior staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Serve as a resource for questions or issues that arise as work product is created.
  • Oversee the preparation of the annual reports, prospectus and other regulatory filings.
  • Establish relationships with external fund administration agents.
  • Assist with customer service inquiries as needed and ensure timely and satisfactory resolution.
  • Expand industry and technical expertise. Notify senior staff of market changes that will have an impact on William Blair policies and procedures.
  • Identify process improvements and share with senior staff.
  • Guide and mentor staff.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or MBA
  • Previous accounting experience in the mutual fund, financial services or public accounting industry
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to provide direction to build a strong team environment
  • Strong understanding of fund administration
  • Strong PC literacy skills in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access and Word)
  • Motivated to display consistently high attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and resolve issues
  • Strong interpersonal, decision-making and analytical abilities
