Division - Buy-Side Directorate

Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £72,100 to £102,100 and London £79,300 to £112,300 pro rata (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

An opportunity has arisen to lead the Fund Supervision function within our Buy-Side Directorate.

In Fund Supervision, we identify, analyse, and provide intelligence on investment fund risk, overseeing funds through a combination of collaborative data-driven initiatives and insightful qualitative assessment.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with industry or regulatory expertise in investment funds and strong project management capabilities to shape and implement our supervisory strategy.

  • Shape and guide the evolution of fund supervision, fostering an adaptive and forward-thinking strategy.
  • Inspire and support a high-performing team, cultivating growth, inclusivity, and impactful change.
  • Navigate investment fund structures and portfolio risks, ensuring thoughtful regulatory outcomes that enhance customer protection, market integrity, and effective competition.
  • Strengthen proactive fund screening and insights, fostering data-led approaches that empower informed decision-making.
  • Mentor and uplift associates, through an environment of learning, collaboration, and skill development across regulatory, quantitative, and programming expertise.

Which skills are required?

Minimum

  • Prior experience in asset management, investment funds or financial services regulation
  • Prior experience managing a team
  • Prior project management experience with an understanding of analysing data

Essential

  • Strong understanding of the FCA’s supervisory approach, with the ability to recognise and prioritise potential risks to its objectives
  • Familiarity with wholesale markets and experience working with fund data and tools such as Morningstar
  • Considerate and analytical, with confidence in assessing complex issues and making well-grounded, risk-aware decisions
  • Committed to cultivating strong, supportive relationships across teams, firms, regulators, and partners
  • A collaborative team player who can manage multiple tasks and projects while staying responsive to shifting priorities
  • Flexible and organised, able to adapt quickly and effectively when priorities evolve
  • Awareness of the challenges facing the industry, with an understanding of how communication and regulatory tools can positively influence behaviours
