Job Purpose
- To maintain the company’s network boundaries, asset connectivity and assets within the geographic information system (GIS).
- To work closely with operational staff to ensure representation of networks and configuration in GIS mirrors that of the field.
- To support the capture and dissemination of data for use in other identified UU systems.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Maintain the company’s water boundaries, district meter areas (DMA) discreet pressure areas (DPA) and water supply zones (WSZ) held in GIS.
- Interpret changes received from operational teams in relation to the company’s water boundaries and network assets and translate these into updates in GIS.
- Investigate and liaise with other business areas to resolve queries and escalated issues associated with the representation of data held in UUGIS.
- Provide first line support to the business in relation to network boundaries and assets and their representation in UUGIS.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure that the update process in UUGIS and the representation of data held in UUGIS, meets their needs and requirements.
- Produce and analyse a number of varying reports associated with data held and updated in UUGIS.
- Work collaboratively with Water Data Maintainers to ensure an understanding of how updates they complete could potentially impact the integrity of the water boundaries held in GIS.
- Support future system changes and maintenance releases in GIS and associated applications by playing an active role in activities such as user acceptance testing and disaster recovery testing.
- Provide support and training to new and existing staff members.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Very good knowledge of the water network and water supply boundary hierarchy, its representation in GIS and use across the business.
- High level of proficiency in geographical information systems and ideally ArcGIS.
- The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the business.
- Ability to understand and manage conflicting information.
- Good communication and influencing skills with the ability to easily share knowledge and skills in GIS with people of all levels of exposure to GIS.
- Good time management, planning and organisational skills.
- Demonstrate good communication skills and team working relationships within and across teams.
- Produce high quality outputs.
