Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Global Long-Tail Pricing Lead in our Central Pricing & Analytics team.

We are seeking a strategic, analytical person with demonstrated leadership experience to support the pricing vision and strategy for Sompo long-tail lines of business including both casualty and financial lines. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of casualty and financial lines insurance, including the complexities of various markets and regulatory environments. This role will be critical in driving the development and implementation of innovative pricing models and strategies to achieve profitability and competitive advantage, as well as creating a center of excellence for product pricing expertise to drive global consistency.

This person will work collaboratively with Underwriting and Pricing teams to communicate, influence, and create momentum for a new way of working for the Insurance function, globally. The successful candidate will support the central pricing function goals of ensuring better decisions are possible at all levels of the business in addition to fostering coordination, collaboration and consistency across pricing and analytics.

This newly created role will report into the Global Head of Long Tail Pricing and have strong matrix connections to the underwriting leads and can be based out of the US or UK.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading long-term projects to support the company’s strategic product vision, including the design and development of best-in-class pricing tools on a digital platform powered by HX Renew.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics and emerging risks that affect the long-tail product lines and communicate these findings to adapt and refine pricing strategies.
  • Ensure pricing tools are properly calibrated to align with market conditions and the company’s risk appetite.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the long-tail insurance portfolio, identifying areas for strategic growth, improvement, and potential risks.
  • Foster strong relationships with regional teams to ensure consistent and effective implementation of global pricing policies.
  • Work alongside the reserving, capital, risk management and underwriting functions globally in support of a consistent actuarial approach across the business, particularly in respect of underwriting parameters.

What You’ll Bring

  • A minimum of eight years’ experience in a global insurance company, financial services, or consulting firm.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the Long-Tail market at a multinational level and an innovative approach.
  • Strong stakeholder management, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to operate independently within a fast-paced, multi-tasked, global organization.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills, combined with sound actuarial judgement and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to deal with challenge and think on their feet when dealing with senior stakeholders.

Salary Range: $150,000 – $210,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
