Description
We are looking for a talented colleague to join our small close-knit team as a Governance Officer. This is a rarely available opportunity to join a specialist team and to be developed into a governance professional.

Main Responsibilities & Duties;
* Assisting in the preparation and publication of papers for Council and Committees
* Acting as Committee Secretary for assigned Committees and/or working groups. Taking minutes of meetings and groups as required.
* Briefing the Committee Chairs and members prior to and at meetings with regard to the agenda and matters arising from the previous minutes and procedural issues
* Working with the Governance Manager and the Head of Governance in the ongoing development of governance processes and promoting best practice.
* Organising Council and Committee meeting cycles in co-operation with other members of the team.
* Coordinating the annual Council and Committee member appraisal process.
* Coordination and administration of public appointments campaigns.
* Responding to Council and Committee members' queries, e.g. expense policy queries, escalating where necessary.
* Ensuring that relevant employees and other relevant individuals are made aware of Committee decisions and that those required to action these decisions are informed in good time and that the progress of actions is monitored.
* Providing administrative support to the Council when required.
* Monitoring the Governance departmental inboxes, taking action and escalating where appropriate.
* Maintaining Governance department records and administrative systems, including managing the correct processing of expense claims from members and maintaining internal records for budgeting purposes.
* Organising purchase orders on behalf of the Governance department, processing invoices and maintaining expenditure spreadsheets.
* Supporting the coordination and compilation of the HCPC annual report and accounts.

The Governance team is one of the most connected within the HCPC. We work with all departments on a regular basis to ensure the Executive Leadership Team, the Council and Committees have the information and support they need to keep the HCPC on the right track in delivering our core purpose of public protection and improving what we do through our corporate strategy and corporate plan.

As Governance Officer, you will have a unique front row seat to the HCPC's decision making. Acting as a Secretary to Committees, you will have exposure to all areas of the HCPC's work and you will play a key and visible role in making our governance processes run effectively.

What we are looking for is discretion, excellent organisation and interpersonal skills and a can-do approach to working with, and most importantly helping, our many stakeholders. A problem solving and diplomatic approach is essential.
