GRADUATE ENGINEERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Are you a recent Graduate looking to kick start your career in land-mark major projects? Or are you an intern without hope of securing the right permanent role? Vulcain Engineering UK are looking to bring in ambitious, career-minded, STEM Graduates to work on some of the most exciting and challenging Nuclear projects in the UK.

We are looking to hire 6 Graduate Engineers, in both Mechanical & Electrical disciplines, to embark on our 2025 Graduate Development Programme a series of catered training courses and experience to take you on a journey towards chartered status.

Vulcain Engineering was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our knowledge of the energy and environment sector means we can support our customers at all stages of the engineering-procurement-construction-commissioning (EPCC) project lifecycle.

With operations in 16 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering expertise in the form of high added value engineering services.

The Graduate Development Programme

Vulcains graduate development programme is 2 years in length. It is constructed using modules which align with standards provided by the Engineering Councils UK-SPEC for Chartered Engineers, and has Vulcains values embedded throughout. Highlights of the programme include:

  • Start with a 2 week induction training period with your fellow graduates, with topics like Introduction to Nuclear, Nuclear Safety, guest speakers from the Nuclear Sector and ice-breaker activities.
  • You will also develop your softer skills with training to prepare and develop your approach to working with colleagues and the client.
  • As well as on-the-job training, you will embark on training courses to improve project management, commercial awareness and leadership skills.
  • You will represent Vulcain as a Young Person in Nuclear, and youll automatically be included in the Vulcains Future Leaders (VFL) programme - a UK wide network for all of our new entrants.
  • Formal chartership mentoring will be structured with Vulcain mentors. Mentor training sessions will be arranged for general professional mentoring as well as specific sessions for chartership mentoring.
  • You will embark on a range of site visits to gain a deeper insight in to the nuclear industry. These sites will likely include major nuclear new build projects such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C.

With a primary focus on the Nuclear Sector, our Technical Communities based in the South West of England are making valuable contributions to the mega-infrastructure, Nuclear New Build project at Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC).

We are offering you an opportunity to transfer your knowledge into real-life applications and be a part of the UKs drive towards Carbon Net Zero.

Preferred Profile

  • Hold or be about to complete a degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field with an emphasis on one of these subjects.
  • You will have indefinite and independent right to work in the UK, due to the high level of security clearance required on several of our UK Nuclear sites.
  • A flexible and open approach to learning & development and be open to exploring a range diverse tasks and interfaces outside of your comfort zone.
  • An analytical mindset and be able to interpret & articulate technical detail to none-technical colleagues.
  • Strong skills in active listening and communication, with the ability to build strong work relationships and trust within teams.
  • Ability to question the status quo and to continuously challenge existing conditions. We encourage our teams to avoid complacency, and so a innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement is valued.
  • Cultural awareness and ability to work in and with multinational teams.
