Group Accountant (reporting & commercial)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and delivery of timely monthly reports for our Advertising Fund, providing insightful analysis and commentary on variances against budget.
- Business Partner with the Marketing team to build and refine annual and quarterly budget and reforecasts.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts.
- Support the statutory accounts process for various group entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
- Assist with the external audit process, including preparation of working papers and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Act as an internal subject matter expert on accounting standards, particularly in complex areas such as lease accounting under IFRS 16.
- Contribute to strengthening the group’s financial control environment through process improvements and ongoing risk assessment.
- Perform regular reviews of reconciliations and identify opportunities for efficiencies or enhancements in financial operations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant accounting frameworks, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Take responsibility for preparing and submitting various tax and regulatory filings including VAT returns, PSA submissions, Capital Allowances reviews, and Gender Pay Gap reporting.
- Coordinate with external advisors to finalize Corporation Tax returns and calculations for group entities.
- Complete quarterly reconciliations for fixed assets and manage related reporting and compliance.
Who We’re Looking For
- You’re a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS), ideally from a big 4 background (or other top
- tier accounting firm background).
- You’ve worked on statutory audits or have hands-on experience preparing statutory accounts.
- You’re familiar with complex accounting standards and can confidently apply IFRS 16.
- While direct tax experience is a plus, it's not a dealbreaker — but familiarity with tax compliance processes would be beneficial.
- You have a strong grasp of internal controls and can design, implement, or review financial processes effectively.
- Your Excel skills are advanced — you’re comfortable with pivot tables, lookups, and more sophisticated formulas.
- You’re detail-oriented, analytical, and enjoy digging into the data to uncover insights.
- Communication is one of your strengths — you can explain financial matters clearly to both finance professionals and non-finance stakeholders.
- You’re self-motivated, organized, and thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- You’re curious and proactive, always looking for ways to improve processes and contribute to overall business performance.
