Group Financial Controller
£95,000 - £115,000 DOE + up to 35% bonus & great benefits

This position is responsible for overseeing a centralised finance function that delivers core financial operations—including payroll, reporting, and transaction processing—across the organisation. The role ensures the integrity of financial controls, provides strategic insights on risk, and supports the development of a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Guide and align the shared services finance team with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
- Cultivate a collaborative, high-performance culture through mentoring, coaching, and development planning.

Financial Reporting & Oversight
- Support the timely preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, working closely with commercial finance teams.
- Ensure rigorous review and reconciliation of balance sheet items, identifying potential risks and taking corrective action.
- Collaborate with finance leadership to proactively manage and optimize financial performance and reporting accuracy.
Transaction Processing
- Oversee all payroll activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
- Lead the accounts payable and treasury functions, including oversight of ledger accuracy, reconciliations, and payment workflows.
- Ensure secure and timely processing of financial transactions, including regulatory and statutory payments.
Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Partner with planning teams to drive the budgeting and forecasting process, contributing key insights and ensuring robust outputs.
- Take ownership of cash flow and balance sheet forecasting activities, including short-term liquidity planning.
- Work with internal stakeholders to support capital planning, cost management, and working capital optimization.
Audit, Compliance & Statutory Reporting
- Lead the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage audit engagements, ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and delivery within agreed timelines.
- Oversee tax compliance and strategy, coordinating with advisors and internal teams to manage all corporate tax obligations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong relationships with both internal departments and external partners to deliver financial and operational objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across various functions, including Legal, IT, Procurement, and Property.
- Build productive partnerships with key financial partners such as auditors, banks, software providers, and tax consultants.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
- Continuously monitor the financial risk landscape, identifying areas of vulnerability and implementing preventative controls.
- Maintain robust internal controls across all finance operations, including approval processes and compliance frameworks.
- Champion financial governance and recommend policy updates as needed.
About You
- Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with relevant industry experience within a control-led environment.
- Proven controllership experience
- Proven experience of process improvement / change
- Consumer Background (Retail, Restaurants, Hospitality, FMCG etc.)
- Managed transactional teams (AP/AR)
- Large business experience
- Strong technical background/ knowledge
