About The Role
Working closely with the Group Financial Controller and other senior members of the finance team, this role is responsible for all of the business’s financial reporting requirements including monthly Group accounts, annual statutory accounts, regulatory and debt reporting.
The role holder will be a key point of contact for the PE investors, auditors and other stakeholders. Furthermore, the role holder will have oversight of the Group’s financial records and processes and will be responsible for the management of two trainee accountants in support of this function.
Key Responsibilities
- Production and review of monthly consolidated group accounts along with supporting analysis.
- Act as a mentor and leader for the two direct reports; reviewing and overseeing their work, supporting their career development and supervising their training.
- Key point of contact for delivery of information and financial support to the PE investors.
- Responsible for production of statutory accounts for the group, including consolidated group accounts, ensuring that the statutory process is managed, from extraction of figures, through to review, approval and filing.
- Production and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual debt reporting. Responsible for ensuring debt covenants are monitored and complied with and for general oversight of the business’s treasury and debt positions.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements through monitoring of financial risk metrics and calculation of regulatory capital and liquidity positions.
- Responsible for submission of quarterly and annual financial returns to the FCA as well as ensuring all supporting information and calculations are accurate.
- Key point of contact with the Group’s external auditors for provision of information and other audit support, contributing to the audit plan and ensuring deliverables action points are followed up.
- Oversight of corporation tax calculations and compliance; calculating monthly corporation tax liabilities, liaising with the business’s external tax advisers and managing the overall group tax position.
- Responsible for a number of key balance sheet accounts and supporting technical calculations including investments and goodwill, impairment reviews, lease calculations and share based payments.
- Reviewing and updating of financial policies and procedures, ensuring that all processes and controls are appropriate and up to date.
- As a key member of the finance team, the role holder will be called upon to provide insight and opinion as required, drawing on their skills and experiences. They will also also be required to undertake other activities that fall within their capabilities, depending on the requirements of the business and as directed by management.
About You
Essential
Specialist Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified accountant with some additional post qualification experience gained in industry, ideally from either the technology and/ or financial services sectors.
- Experience of the monthly financial reporting process; production, of management accounts along with supporting reconciliations, controls processes, analysis and financial commentary.
- Experience of working with consolidated Group accounts, ideally gained from either a practice background or from working in a Group reporting role.
- Experience of managing the statutory audit process, either from the perspective as an auditor, or as an audit client.
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel.
Desirable
- Experience of managing and mentoring junior staff, including providing support and guidance with regards the training and qualification process.
- Experience of working within a PE environment.
- Experience of FCA regulatory reporting.
- Familiarity with external debt reporting, including covenant compliance and debt ratios.
- Experience of corporation tax calculations and disclosures.
- Experience of working in an environment subject to high levels of change, either due to business expansion, acquisitions or changes in strategy and/or structure.
- Experience or working within the platform and/ or IFA sector.
