Position Overview
We are seeking a commercially minded and technically strong
Group Tax Manager to join our growing multinational business. This varied, high-impact role offers a unique opportunity to lead across a broad range of tax matters, supporting the Head of Tax within a small, collaborative Group Tax team.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery across direct, indirect, international, and employment taxes. This is an ideal role for a proactive tax professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and wants to help shape tax strategy, manage risk, and contribute to decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and support finance and people teams with tax compliance and advisory for UK and European entities, including corporate income tax, VAT, payroll taxes, CCO, CIS, and other reporting obligations.
- Provide tax input on finance and business transformation projects, including systems and process improvements.
- Manage and prepare transfer pricing documentation (including master file and local files) across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor legislative changes and business developments to assess tax risk and deliver clear, actionable advice.
- Perform permanent establishment reviews and other international tax matters.
Key Projects
- Conduct UK-specific compliance activities (CT, VAT, SAO, PSA, CCO, CIS, etc.).
- Oversee CIT and VAT return processes across Europe.
- Document and improve tax processes with local finance teams.
- Review group tax provisions for consolidated financial statements.
- Implement tax controls in Workday Finance and assess AI-driven tax compliance tools.
- Support group structure rationalisation and legal entity wind-downs.
Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of progressive tax experience, from in-house and ideally also Big 4/top-tier accounting firms.
- Proven expertise in tax compliance, preferably across direct, indirect, and employment taxes.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong desire to collaborate, make informed decisions and deliver results.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the agility to dynamically prioritise and manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- A strong analytical and commercial mindset supported by considered and persuasive communication skills.
