The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a totally collaborative organisation made up of nine partner companies (Anglian Water, SWECO, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, and Skanska) and an extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8, this will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before. We’ll be embarking on a new kind of project delivery focusing on nature-based solutions like wetlands and urban drainage schemes.
We are driving change, empowering us to set global benchmarks and build a better environment, with the opportunity to offer enhanced growth and development to our workforce. We’re looking to build on our existing teams with an environment built for career progression.

Heads of Commercial to lead, innovate, and deliver exceptional value in our ambitious and dynamic infrastructure delivery programme.
About The Role
As
Head of Commercial, you’ll be at the heart of driving the commercial success of a designated Business Unit looking after a portfolio of projects of between £600m - £750m over a five year period. Reporting to the Delivery or Commercial Director, you’ll manage all aspects of the commercial function, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives while fostering collaboration, innovation, and value-driven outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute commercial strategies that enhance performance and align with our outperformance targets.
- Performance Management: Oversee the commercial performance of the Business Unit, ensuring effective cost assurance, KPI reporting, and governance.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to deliver seamless integration across the supply chain.
- Procurement & Supply Chain Management: Drive procurement innovation and ensure supply chain performance aligns with programme goals.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, care, and continuous improvement.
- Health, Safety & Wellbeing: Champion a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing across the team and supply chain.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will bring:
- A degree-level education, with significant experience in a senior leadership role.
- Proven expertise in project and programme delivery within construction or utilities.
- A strong commercial acumen with experience in contract management, procurement, and estimating.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- A track record of leading successful teams and delivering business objectives at a strategic level.
- The ability to drive innovation, improve processes, and deliver exceptional results.
