Our client, a major UK charity, is investing in a data transformation journey and seeking a dynamic Head of Data and Business Intelligence to lead the way. This newly created role is a key strategic hire, reporting into the Director of Strategy and Business Intelligence, and will drive the development of a data-driven culture across the organisation.

This is a high-impact opportunity to build and lead a growing team, define and embed best practice, and ensure data is used effectively to influence strategy, optimise fundraising, and improve community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and shape a new central Data & BI function, managing 4 current staff and recruiting up to 6 more.
  • Drive data maturity across the organisation, embedding good governance and effective data practices.
  • Oversee the implementation of data policies, frameworks, and training to build internal capabilities.
  • Act as a translator between technical teams and business users, ensuring meaningful data use.
  • Champion data ethics and privacy; act as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure insights support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Take ownership of BI and other tools (e.g. Power BI, FastStats), ensure strong integration with Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Support the delivery of a new Dynamics CRM system and bring together disparate data sources.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Senior data leadership experience in either the charity or other sectors.
  • Track record of building or transforming data teams, processes, and culture from low maturity environments.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, compliance (incl. personal data), and impact measurement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and bring others on the journey.
  • Experience in using data to optimise performance, marketing, and fundraising strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with BI and data platforms (e.g. Power BI, FastACT, SQL, Dynamics CRM) desirable.
  • A people-first, collaborative leadership style – confident, approachable, and supportive.

This is a career-defining opportunity to lead a transformation that will impact thousands of lives. If you’re passionate about using data for good and want to help build a data-literate, insight-driven culture from the ground up – we want to hear from you.
