We’re seeking a Head of European Marketing to drive growth and promote the firm’s brand across the region with intermediary, institutional and direct retail clients for State Street Global Advisors, the asset management business of State Street Corporation.
State Street Global Advisors’ is the fourth largest asset manager in the world with an innovative heritage having created many of the world’s first ETFs.
Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, the ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who is energized to develop multi-channel marketing strategies and campaigns to advance the firm’s business goals in the region.
This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What You Will Be Responsible For
As Head of European Marketing Managing Director you will
- Marketing Strategy & Execution: Work closely with State Street Global Advisors’ Head of Europe and Heads of European Distribution to develop marketing strategies and approaches to enhance the firm’s brand and drive cross-business growth. The Head of European Marketing will serve as the marketing lead on a region-wide Executive Committee and will partner closely with marketing peers including the Global Head of Brand & Design, Global Head of Institutional Marketing and the Global Head of Communications & Content to deliver on this aspect of the role.
- Intermediary Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop the marketing strategy for the firm’s European Intermediary business, leveraging data and business intelligence in close partnership with the Head of European Intermediary Distribution. Accountable for clearly defining target audiences, objectives and the go-to-market strategy for the firm’s broad set of intermediary products including UCITS ETFs, US ETFs, cash, etc. Oversee the end-to-end execution and budget of all intermediary marketing campaigns and initiatives spanning the entire marketing funnel – awareness, consideration, lead generation, and delivering nurtured contacts to sales to drive business wins and new opportunities.
- Marketing Leadership: As the most senior marketer in the region, the Head of European Marketing will be responsible for helping to drive employee engagement with a diverse group of 25 marketers with expertise in multiple disciplines including channel marketing, investment content, data & analytics, digital publishing, design, search, etc. The entire marketing team in the region will have a dual reporting relationship to the Head of European Marketing. This leader will be empowered to rally marketing resources across functions to deliver on priority business unit and firm-wide initiatives in region.
- Marketing Metrics and Measurement of Success: Accountable for delivering a robust set of transparent marketing metrics such that the economic effectiveness of marketing initiatives can be assessed and evaluated in a timely manner.
- Regulatory Responsibility: Accountable for ensuring compliance with all required marketing regulatory obligations in region.
- External Stakeholder engagement: Accountable for coordinating regional marketing priorities and effectiveness to external groups like joint partnerships.
- Client Experience: Partner with marketing team members to continuously improve the client experience and engagement across web, social, events, eDM, SEO/SEM, etc.
- Marketing Budget: Manage a dedicated marketing budget aligned to specific business goals ensuring optimal allocation of resources.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- 15 or more years of relevant marketing communications experience
- Experience at another major asset manager highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree preferably with a major in marketing or communications; master’s degree preferred
- Understanding of digital and reporting platforms such as Salesforce, Adobe, Tableau and proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Financial services experience required along with a strong understanding of ETF distribution
