Job Purpose

The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for developing the human resource approach in support of the business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management including onboarding, change management, organizational and performance management. This role collaborates with the payroll and benefits, training, talent acquisition and HR system team members within the wider organisation to deliver cohesive HR practices for the organisation.

This role will cover two sites Alnwick and Reading. The sucessful candidate would be expected to be onsite in Alnwick with travel to Reading once per month. We offer flexible working hours and patterns to help accomodate travel to site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business plan.
  • Liaise with the talent acquisition team to manage recruitment and selection processes to attract, retain, and develop high-quality talent.
  • Utilise people metrics to provide people focussed insights to key stakeholders.
  • Work with the business leadership team to drive high performance.
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization and feed into the ongoing development of local practices/updated regional or global practices.
  • Support management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Support current and future business needs through partnering with the business leadership team to develop engagement, attraction and attraction strategies to retain great talent.
  • Nurture a positive working environment.
  • Utilise central functions for HR elements such as payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide leadership and mentorship to colleagues across the business on financial activities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of HR experience, with at least 1 year at a senior level.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
