Bellrock Consulting is looking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Principal Designer Services to lead our Construction Design Management (CDM) and Building Regulations (BR) teams. This is a senior leadership role with a strong focus on delivery, growth, and innovation in our Principal Designer services.

You will be responsible for overseeing and developing our CDM and BR Principal Designer services. This includes leading a high-performing team to deliver excellent technical and commercial outcomes across a wide range of projects.

The role involves leading the effective management of the CDM and BR Principal Designer teams to deliver technical and commercial outcomes. The Safety Compliance team is thriving, with an ever-growing client base with great opportunities for training and development potential.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can demonstrate strong leadership qualities with a ‘can do’ attitude.

The role will include working closely with our clients and internal teams to deliver projects in a safe and compliant manner. Here at Bellrock Consulting, we set high standards for Health and Safety and are looking for an individual who can undertake the CDMA/PD & BR PD role with a professional, constructive, and collaborative approach.

And as a Head of Principal Design Services with Bellrock, you’ll do it by…

• Actively lead delivery, development and growth of CDM and BR Principal Designer services.
• Take ownership for managing the P&L for this vertical of the Business, including understanding the revenue and margin objectives of the Business.
• Working collaboratively with other departments to nurture and plan projected work and ensure consultants are working productively and to the required technical standard.
• Uphold, encourage and ensure the company culture and behaviours are always displayed and adhered to within the CDM and BR Compliance Teams and promote these across other teams.
• Lead in the effective management of the CDM and BR Principal Designer teams to deliver technical and commercial outcomes
• Where required, act as the Lead Consultant on key Principal Designer commissions.
• Develop key client relationships through understanding their Business needs and fostering effective Business relationships.
• Contribute to the development of the fire brand in the marketplace through service excellence, expert knowledge, and client referrals etc. Promote through social media where appropriate.
• Ensure the delivery of a professional and exceptional service to clients.
• Support sustainable service growth, statutory compliance and governance, client and staff retention, and development of our client base
• Assist in growing the customer base and undertaking / overseeing the production of fee proposals through direct requests.
• Work collaboratively with other people across the divisions to provide and present a seamless approach to clients.
• Provide clear, concise, and practical Health and Safety advice, guidance and coaching to project teams throughout all stages of the project.
• Providing fees, invoicing, closing out appointments and supporting debtor control.
• Exploring potential cross-sell opportunities across the wider Bellrock teams.
• Manage day to day delivery of work via direct reports, team leadership, and maintaining high performing services.
• Reporting to the Head of Safety Compliance on matters such as staff competencies, project status, fees, finances and recruitment etc.
  
  

What does it take?

If you’re ready to be the energy that helps us build our business, share our success, and really own it as a Head of Principal Design Services, you’ll need…

• You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry with experience of CDM/Health, Safety issues, and Building Regulations in construction.
• You have excellent working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015, Building Regulations 2010 (and relevant amendments), Building Safety Act 2022, and appropriate legislation.
• You have demonstrable previous experience in successfully delivering the Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles in the residential refurbishment, development, and commercial sector.
• You ideally hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• You ideally are an incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs).
• You have a full and clean driver’s license.
• You will need a willingness to travel to varied sites across London, Home Counties, and the Southeast.
• You will need to be well motivated
• You will need to be a good communicator with interpersonal and organisational skills
• You’re a confident, clear, and articulate communicator with effective interpersonal skills with both clients, contractors, and colleagues in verbal and written format.
• You’re comfortable with working autonomously and managing your own workload effectively.
• You have a natural curiosity for problem solving.
• You relish the challenge of working with external stakeholders.
• You have a passion for developing yourself and others.
• You’re an effective decision maker and an excellent team player.
• You have a natural ability to achieve ‘buy-in’ or ‘win over’ project teams to drive forward Health and Safety in a positive light.

Working arrangements

We embrace smarter working practices which offer our employees the opportunity to work their hours flexibly and remotely where their roles and business needs allow. In this role, the successful candidate would be required to work from the London Paddington office and working two days a week with the team and the rest of the week can be worked from home.
