We are excited to announce we have a new role available at Davies Veterinary Specialists. We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to drive safety improvements across our veterinary hospital. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills working along side a diverse and dedicated team on an incredible 14 unit site. You will work closely with the central support teams regional health & safety manager. This role is a part-time role working 24h per week over 3 days on site.
This role will play a key part in fostering a culture of safety and inclusivity, ensuring that operational teams integrate best practices into their daily routines. You will act as a subject matter expert (SME), translating complex legislation into practical, effective solutions, leading on health and safety strategy, audits, managing risk and delivering compliance with all current legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to ISO 45001 principles, industry standards, and statutory inspections.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the business/industry
- Work closely with the facilities manager and management team to develop and implement effective H&S policies and management systems
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented across all areas of the business, working closely with the facilities manager.
- Fire Safety & Risk Assessments: Manage fire actions and conduct fire safety reviews.
- Incident Investigation: Support the investigation of accidents and incidents, making recommendations to prevent recurrence. Continuously promote H&S reporting to ensure that all accidents are reported and logged and that investigations and audits are properly documented.
- Audits & Inspections: Conduct occupational health and safety audits to monitor and improve performance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Hospital Manager, SLT, Facilities Manager and operational teams to implement safety measures effectively. Work closely with the regional Health and Safety Manager.
- Chair the quarterly H&S meetings.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a multi-site/multi-disciplinary health and safety role
- Knowledge & Skills
- NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Fire regulations.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across the practice.
