Harry Needle Rail Company (HNRC Swietelsky), a leader in railway engineering, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join their across-group team in the Worksop area.
OVERALL PURPOSE:
This role will take overall responsibility for Health and Safety at our Rail services locations.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Develop, implement, and maintain Health and Safety Policies and procedures across all HNRC sites.
- Produce, update and manage site-specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
- Management and compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ensuring accurate and up to date records.
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Submit detailed monthly H&S reports to the Depot Supervisor and Head of Rail services.
- Monitor and manage on-site compliance with health & safety regulations, ensuring all workers follow correct procedures.
- Attend and represent the company in H&S project site meetings, liaising with contractors and relevant managers.
- Manage and maintain annual health & safety accreditations.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to site teams to enhance overall safety awareness.
- Carrying out Tool Box Talks regarding high risk activities.
- Investigate, report, and recommend improvements for Health and Safety incidents
- Promote a safety-first culture within the business.
- Works closely with key stakeholders within the group to ensure the job specific requirements are met.
- Work with the wider SHEQ team to develop, implement and update processes relating to Environmental matters and Quality and Audit.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
1. Skills and Experience:
- Qualification in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, CMIOSH, and/or IOSH)
- Considerable experience in a Health and Safety role, with Health and Safety experience in rail being desirable.
- Sound understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment matters, legislation, and standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence teams at all levels.
- A self-motivated individual who can work independently and drive continuous improvement.
2. Business Focus:
- Understands the need to introduce best practice and a continuous improvement culture and has a clean vision of how the Company would operate in such an environment.
- Establishes and engages with key stakeholders within the HNRC / Swietelsky group.
- Complies with Group Policy and communicates where changes occur.
