Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Global Health Outcomes (GHO), with dotted line to the Head of Medical Affairs, International, the International Health Outcomes Director will lead health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) strategy, and support reimbursement and evidence generation activities across the International Region.

The current and developing ViiV portfolio requires significant HEOR input in a wide range of markets with differing access and RWE requirements, for current and future launches as well as lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

To LEAD:


  • Cross-functional matrix working with Region, Hub and LOC medical affairs and market access to ensure integration of health outcomes studies/data to support commercialization and life cycle management.
  • Representing/leading HO function in above country cross functional teams such as Market Access and Medical Networks.
  • Provide effective representation of the International Region within the Global organization, to ensure Regional evidence requirements are reflected in the respective asset plans.
  • Drive implementation of standard methodologies and pilot HO and RWE innovation through the International network.
  • Provide mentorship to LOCs on successful conduct of local health outcomes activities, including vendor selection, proposal evaluation, sharing of global resources, guidance and standards.
  • Capability gap assessment and training requirements in health outcomes/economics in the Region.
  • Transparency of Regional/local and Global evidence generation activities to the IET and International network, respectively.


To PARTNER:


  • Dotted line reporting to Head of International Medical Affairs to ensure alignment of HO and International medical/commercial strategy.
  • Strong collaborative working within the International network, including Regional and Hub Market Access and Medical Leads
  • Strong collaborative working with GHO and other Global colleagues such as Franchise Medical (Medical Affairs).
  • Key point of contact with the LOCs for HO/RWE evidence generation activities.
  • Interaction with vendors to develop optimal study designs to ensure ongoing support for the markets.


To DELIVER:


  • Coordinate and drive International HEOR activities as defined in the IEP (RWE projects, economic modelling, indirect comparisons, PRO studies, etc) ensuring the scientific robustness of the study protocol, study execution, analyses, and reporting.
  • Work with LOCs to capture insights from decision makers (payers, clinicians, policy makers) to understand their evidence needs, work with the IET to generate that evidence and facilitate dissemination to stakeholders
  • Support country-specific adaptations of global deliverables and country reimbursement strategies across ViiV portfolio, providing input to training sessions with local country teams (e.g., roll-out of Global Value Evidence Dossiers (GVDs)).
  • Impactful publications and downstream activities, including supporting the International medical and commercial teams with communication materials and training to ensure optimal dissemination of the evidence.
  • Compliance with regulations for quality and disclosure.
  • Accountable for securing, tracking and managing budgets within the scope of the role.
  • To develop the International Health Outcomes strategy across the ViiV portfolio.
  • To develop a deep understanding of HEOR needs in the Region, including HTA requirements and RWE, to enable and maintain successful access and uptake of ViiV’s medicines across the portfolio.
  • To build and maintain a positive relationship with central, regional and local ViiV International stakeholders, through regular communication and collaboration with senior Regional colleagues, ensuring their awareness of Global/Regional plans and deliverables and how they might be used in the markets.

Basic Qualifications And Experience


  • Master’s degree or higher in health outcomes, health economics, epidemiology, pharmacy, health or life sciences.
  • Significant experience in health outcomes or an aligned subject area/function.
  • Pharmaceutical experience that includes drug development and/or and launch experience in support of value evidence generation.
  • Leadership, networking, communication and influencing skills to work effectively in a complex and multi-cultural matrix environment. This role requires credibility and personal authority, to work with senior partners to develop and implement evidence generation strategies that will meet decision makers’ needs.
  • Self-motivated ownership and accountability for projects, to move them forward, and deliver with minimal direction.
  • Understanding of the environmental/payer/access trends, needs & decision-making process in major International markets.
  • Strong technical knowledge in key HEOR areas including observational research, RWE, health economics.
  • Strong critical thinking strategically and tactically.
  • Global R&D and/or LOC experience.


Preferred Qualifications And Experience


  • Doctorate level (e.g. PhD, Pharm D) or higher-level degree with commensurate industry and business qualification.
  • Experience in HIV/Infectious Diseases desirable but not required.
