Continuing our success at Sellafield, we are now growing our KDP5 Framework team in Cumbria, delivering another crucial, major infrastructure project on the site.


We’re actively looking for an experienced and diligent Safety Advisor to assist our team with all HS&E matters on and off site, continually striving to improve our already world class attitude and approach to HS&E within the project environment.

Role Summary


You will act as a focal point for project HS&E matters individually and as a team. The principal purpose of this role is to provide efficient and effective value added support to the Project / Site Manager on all HS&E matters that are applicable to the site and project operation in compliance with company policies and procedures.


Responsible for:


  • Ensuring with Project/Site Management and Supervision that all operations and activities are effectively planned and undertaken in compliance with Company, Site and Project HSE regulations, contract requirements and relevant legal and other requirements
  • To provide site team with competent advice on current HSE legislation applicable to the activities, any hazards present, relevant to the location and country of operation
  • To work effectively with the project/site team in establishing and implementing effective HSE Management Systems, Risk Assessment and HS&E planning.
  • To contribute towards building a positive team spirit on all HSE matters on site.
  • Effective active monitoring, recording and reporting of our own and Subcontractors HSE performance and workplace conditions.
  • With the Quality function, ensure that there is effective document management control with robust HSE record keeping and archiving integral to the system
  • To actively challenge and report any unsafe actions and unsafe conditions
  • To ensure thorough accident/incident investigations are carried out and reported.
  • To ensure effective HSE inductions and relevant HSE training is undertaken and records maintained in a retrievable manner
  • To ensure near miss and improvement observation reporting is maintained
  • To ensure all enquiries from the HSE function are dealt with accurately and promptly.
  • To provide a value added service to the Project / Site and the Company.
  • To develop strong links with our clients in promoting best practice and continual improvement.
  • To demonstrate at all times visible and felt leadership on all matters of Health, Safety and Environmental
  • To ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that all operations are conducted in compliance with Company, Site and Project HSE regulations, contract requirements and relevant regulatory requirements


Essential Qualifications & Experience


  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate and/or
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Environmental Awareness Training
  • Technical Membership of IOSH
  • Proven background in industry related HSE position
  • A proven track record with capability to drive and promote HSE values, and lead on all HSE matters.
  • Sufficient and appropriate Site and Project experience both internally and externally.
  • Communication skills
  • Effective training skills
  • Ability to adopt and demonstrate a leadership role and carry out effectively where relevant


Desired Qualifications


  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • IEMA Cert. In Environmental Management or equivalent
  • Membership of IOSH
