The Opportunity


Are you an ambitious Health and Safety Leader, who wants to become part of a dynamic and growing company in the Scotch Whisky and Spirits category? We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join us as the Health & Safety Leader for our Operations Business Unit. With five Distilleries and four Packaging facilities globally, we need to ensure that appropriate systems and processes are developed and implemented such that the WGS& businesses remain compliant with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and continuously strive towards best practice.


What you’ll be doing


  • Refine, develop and implement the ongoing global approach for Occupational Safety and Process Safety, to ensure that the company meets and exceeds regulatory expectations and manages significant risk including Top Tier COMAH sites. Delivered through the evaluation of statistical data, trends and knowledge of corporate, industry and wider external good practice and developments in the field.


  • Lead and develop both the Distilling and Packaging compliance programs that are required to meet the relevant safety, process safety, ISO and internal standards. Ensure that the external audit processes e.g. ISO are value adding activities providing process improvements by comparison with external business best practice.


  • Establish uniform and consistent reporting mechanisms to evaluate effectiveness of the improvement plans and analyse the resulting performance. Analyse, prioritise and communicate this performance at relevant forums co creating action plans to drive improvements, which will be reported at WGS Senior Leadership Team, Operations and Executive Boards.


About You


  • Qualified to minimum HNC/HND level in an Engineering discipline or significant process safety experience
  • Previous knowledge of managing safety within a COMAH or high-risk environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant machinery regulations including Electricity at work regulations and Provision and Use of Work Equipment.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience of managing a Cost centre budget
  • Proven leader who can set objectives, performance manage a team and develop individuals to achieve their potential.
