Hours per week: 37

Contract type: Permanent

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our highway authority assets? We're looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Highway Asset Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll develop and implement comprehensive Highway Asset Management Plans, focusing on whole-life planning for asset maintenance. You'll use your expertise to prioritise investments, ensuring our resources meet the evolving needs of the authority. Your experience with risk profiling within construction asset data and proficiency in UKPMS-based highway assessment systems (CVI, DVI, FNS, SCANNER, SCRIM) will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and safety of our infrastructure.

You'll also play a key role in developing detailed designs for highway and civil engineering schemes, supervising site operations, preparing briefs, and managing consultants, contractors, or agency staff. Embracing change and managing variations will be part of your daily routine as you contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About You

We're seeking someone with a wealth of experience in highway asset management plans and a deep understanding of asset management principles. You should be well-versed in developing and executing Highway Asset Management Plans and have a proven track record of effective investment prioritisation techniques. Your technical skills will extend to risk profiling and hands-on experience with UKPMS or similar assessment systems.

Communication is key in this role, and you'll need to demonstrate exceptional oral and written skills, comfortably interacting with a diverse range of people, from the public to community representatives and council members. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and professional IT suites, along with a strong grasp of asset management systems, is essential. Your organisational skills will shine as you manage projects, budgets, and programs, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.

We need someone who can visit engineering sites across the borough, occasionally attend out-of-hours meetings, and bring a positive, proactive approach to integrating equality policies into service delivery.

If you're passionate about making a tangible difference in our community and ready to contribute your skills to a dedicated team, we can't wait to hear from you. Join us, and together, we'll build a better, more efficient highway infrastructure!

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English

A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
