You see, when we launched the first Hotel Gotham in Manchester, it was billed as ‘Europe’s sexiest hotel’. Now it’s Newcastle’s time to enjoy the Gotham effect. So, whoever takes on this role will be enthusiastic and passionate as Hotel Gotham is more than just business. Gotham is a way of life. A vibe. A 5-star-studded, theatrical, vibrant, stylish, dramatic experience – for guests and staff.

Gotham Newcastle is located in the Old Fire Station which was originally built in 1931–1933 based on designs by Cackett, Burns Dick and Mackellar. Baroque Revival in style, a handsome steel framed building with rusticated Portland stone and brick cladding.

We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Night Manager to oversee the operations of our five-star hotel during the evening and overnight hours. As the leader of the hotel after hours, you will ensure that all operations run smoothly, maintain exceptional guest experiences, and manage a team that upholds the hotel’s impeccable standards of service. From overseeing guest arrivals and departures to handling any overnight challenges with grace and professionalism, you will ensure that every guest enjoys a seamless, luxurious stay. With your strong leadership skills and attention to detail, you will help maintain the hotel’s high standards and operational excellence while providing peace of mind to guests and staff alike.

A Glimpse of the Scenes You’ll Be Starring In:

  • Lead the Night Operations: Oversee the hotel’s operations during the evening and overnight hours, ensuring all departments, from front desk to housekeeping, run efficiently and smoothly, maintaining the high standards expected of a five-star hotel.
  • Guest Experience Excellence: Ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all guests checking in or out during night hours. Provide assistance with special requests, room changes, or VIP services while anticipating guest needs and ensuring their comfort.
  • Night Staff Leadership: Manage and supervise the night team, including receptionists, security, and housekeeping staff, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and operating at the highest level of professionalism.
  • Handle Guest Requests & Concerns: Address any guest complaints, requests, or concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring issues are resolved swiftly and with minimal disruption to their stay.
  • Operational Efficiency: Monitor the smooth flow of hotel operations, including managing room assignments, guest requests, and coordinating with other departments to ensure timely service and the satisfaction of all guests.
  • Safety & Security: Oversee the safety and security of the hotel during the night shift, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols, handling emergency situations calmly and efficiently, and providing peace of mind to both guests and staff.
  • Financial & Reporting Responsibilities: Oversee the completion of night audits and the accuracy of all financial transactions, ensuring that reports are accurate and submitted to management in a timely manner. Ensure that daily cash handling and billing procedures are in line with hotel policy.
  • Monitor Hotel Systems: Regularly check on hotel systems, including key systems (HVAC, security, lighting), to ensure that everything is in good working order and proactively address any issues that may arise.
  • Handle Special Requests: Manage special requests or events that may occur overnight, from early check-ins to late-night events, ensuring that all requests are handled with care and precision.
  • Communication with Day Management: Ensure a smooth handover to the day team, communicating important information regarding guest requests, operational issues, and any incidents that occurred during the night shift to ensure continuity of service.
  • Maintain Impeccable Standards: Ensure that all hotel operations during the night meet the same luxury standards guests expect, from cleanliness and safety to service excellence, ensuring all areas are well-maintained and ready for the next day’s operations.
