Job Title: HR Advisor (part-time 0.6 FTE)

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 and up to 20% bonus and benefits (pro-rata to 0.6 FTE)

Location: Hybrid from our central Cardiff office

The HR Advisor is responsible for providing professional and effective advice to the Bank’s employees in line with current employment legislation, regulatory guidelines, company policy and best practice.

The post holder will collaborate closely with managers to address HR queries, manage employee relations, and foster a positive working environment. The post holder will also support key HR processes such as payroll.

The HR advisor will support the wider HR team to deliver key initiatives to improve the overall development and wellbeing of employees.

Your Impact: Building a greener tomorrow

As a HR Advisor at Tandem your focus will be on:

  • Provide the business with professional advice which is legally compliant and in line with Tandem’s brand. Key areas of advice may include; absence management, misconduct, gross misconduct, performance, FCA conduct rules, restructures, conflict resolution (This list is not exhaustive).
  • In conjunction with the Senior HR Administrator, produce a monthly MI/data pack to identify key risks & issues.
  • Regularly meet with team leaders and managers to understand the People challenges in their area, highlighting risks & issues and agreeing improvement actions; escalate relevant issues to line manager when relevant.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, processes and supporting documentation (e.g. letters) ensuring the Bank meets all legal and regulatory requirements, and actioning improvement opportunities.
  • Through policies, processes and behaviors operate in line with Tandem’s brand and values.
  • Ensure the language of all communications e.g. letters are professional, consistent and in line with Tandem’s brand.
  • Support the HR Business Partners with change initiatives e.g. organisational change/restructure activity.
  • Support collation of payroll for the Bank by ensuring any changes within key stakeholder areas are actioned appropriately (e.g. changes to salary/hours etc.).
  • Support the Bank’s regular people initiatives including; annual salary review process, bi annual performance review process, employee engagement surveys, fit and proper assessment.
  • Support the Bank in complying with regulatory requirements including employment law, the FCA’s SMCR, PRA regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when managing sensitive information such as salary details, absence records, disciplinary records.
  • Support the team on an ad hoc basis and during peak times on administrative processes e.g. onboarding, Bank wide communications.
  • Ensure employment law knowledge is up to date to support the People strategy and the objectives of the business.

Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Support the Bank with the fit and proper assessment of all employees in line with FCA/PRA guidelines and the Bank’s policy.
  • Understand the FCA Conduct Rules and how these apply to employees and the reporting requirements for the breach of these rules.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience at a similar level, in a similar size business.
  • Strong advice background with the ability to think outside of the box to solve challenges.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet business demands.
  • Ability to read and understand employment law and apply to Tandem.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks.
  • Ability to build good working relationships.
  • Confident to challenge and influence people’s decisions in a professional manner.
  • CIPD Level 3 or 5.

It would be great, but not essential if you have:

  • Experience in financial services or similar regulatory environment
