The Focus of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to provide proactive, business-focused guidance across all aspects of the employee lifecycle. You will support managers in handling employee relations (ER) cases, including performance, absence, disciplinary, grievances, and employee wellbeing.
As a trusted advisor, you'll promote HR best practices, build strong relationships, and help embed our culture in line with our values and growth priorities. Collaborating with HR colleagues, you’ll also contribute to delivering the operational plan and ensuring our workforce is skilled, resilient, and motivated for the future.
This role is a mixture of working from home and our London office. There may be occasional travel to Peterborough for wider HR team collaboration.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide HR support, advice and guidance on Employee Relation (ER) matters in line with policy, best practice, the business context and legislation.
- Coach managers to become more self-sufficient when dealing with a range of ER cases including family friendly processes.
- Advise and support on operational HR practice and people solutions in line with operational needs and business priorities.
- Maintain, update and co-ordinate the monthly HR report to the Co-CEOs and CFO, liaising with HR BPs/Senior HR Advisor where appropriate.
- Involvement in HR and Publishing projects, implementing and embedding new initiatives across the business.
- Fostering a culture of service excellence, role modelling Bauer’s values and behaviours, and maximising the contribution that HR makes to the organisation through own efforts and through supporting developing line management to manage their people.
- Be a key contact for the Central HR Ops Team to ensure they have the support from HR Publishing team they need.
- Liaising with Talent Acquisition on driving and embedding the online recruitment process across the business, support with Exit Interviews.
- Working closely with the HR team to review HR processes in order to ensure that they are continuously improved to be effective, efficient and reflect legal compliance, best practice, project and transformation work.
- Championing Diversity and Inclusion through our ‘Belonging at Bauer’ strategy.
- Actively participate in cultural communities, MHFA, THRIVE, Culture Champions ensuring feedback loops improve our employee experience and lifecycle.
What You’ll Bring:
- Able to demonstrate HR professional expertise and sound judgement operating across all general HR disciplines
- Have a good understanding of Employment Law and application of that knowledge in a commercial context
- Ideally possess Level 5 CIPD qualification or relevant demonstrable experience
- Ideally Mental Health First Aid qualified, or with the desire to become qualified and be an active part of our MHFA community.
- Have experience of policy and process improvement as a way of demonstrating continuous improvement with a focus on enhancing our overall employee experience
- Able to use your initiative to problem solve and identify solutions with a flexible approach and the ability to handle sensitive issues diplomatically and confidentially.
- Have experience of providing HR support across multi sites in a large organization with multiple key stakeholders
- Be an excellent and pro-active communicator (both verbal and written)
- Able to manage a busy workload while effectively balancing the needs and expectations of internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and quality of work in a fast paced, informal, time-pressured and often ambiguous environment
- Able to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.
- Be able to build strong and credible relationships quickly with the ability to influence and motivate self and others
- Be competent in analytics of HR management information and KPIs
- Be competent in Microsoft packages; Excel / Word / PowerPoint
