The Academy Talented Player Performance Coach Analyst will be responsible for the development of players across the youth development phase using video analysis and coaching. Predominantly leading a focus on analysis of the Academy playing philosophy and individual learning plans for YDP players. Additionally, the role will also have coaching responsibilities within the PDP to coincide with IDP implementation through the Academy player profiles and team coaching as required by the YDP and PDP needs.

Working closely Head of Coaching and Player Development and the Head of YDP and FP Football Methodology align the YDP talented player performance program (TPPP) to create outstanding, exciting and dynamic players with the potential to thrive when transitioning across the Youth Development Phases and onto the PDP. Always considering the future game and our key player development principles.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To deliver performance analysis support to the Academy players, coaches and staff. This may include training analysis, pre-match planning and post-match feedback/feedforward.
  • To produce YDP post-match reports for the TPPP player that are informative and contribute to bringing to life their player development dashboards.
  • Lead the talented player performance program across the YDP phase ensuring our philosophy and culture is strong and living To contribute to the development of Academy learning resources, including playing philosophy, coaching syllabus and best practice guides and Academy traits.
  • To support and implement the individual learning plans strand of the player development program with focus on the 13-16s age groups.
  • To contribute to multidisciplinary support in line with individual learning plans.
  • To provide innovative, project-based exploratory analysis to broader Academy programme.
  • To report weekly to the Head of Coaching on overall progress and development within the Academy, through our developed meeting structures, and to represent collective views on the future development and direction of the Academy programme in key forums To liaise with all relevant staff, where appropriate, to ensure that information, relevant to duties, is communicated effectively.
  • To establish and develop effective working relationships with the Academy analysis, coaching and multidisciplinary staff.
  • To utilise effective time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • To contribute to an elite learning environment in which players and staff are expected to demonstrate work ethic, integrity and teamwork.
  • Day to Day coaching support where required across YDP age groups.
  • Administration of player performance data for the TPPP players.
  • Implementing and maintaining the Premier League’s ‘Elite Player Performance Plan’ (EPPP) rules and regulations for the Academy YDP development Phase.
  • Coaching of age group as required within the YDP U18s in line with IDP support of the players.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • UEFA ‘A’ Licence or working towards
  • Advance Youth Award or working towards
  • In depth Knowledge of how young people learn including a grasp of neurological learning strategies.
  • FA Safeguarding Children
  • BFAS First Aid Award
  • FA CRB Enhanced Disclosure
  • Experience of working in a sporting environment to provide Performance Analysis support and delivery
  • FA Youth Award
  • An upbeat, enthusiastic and high energy individual who has a passion for developing young people and colleagues
  • A positive, can do attitude, who adds creativity and innovation to our team Focus on individual player development within a team process
  • Creative presentation skills and experience of presentation (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, be adaptable to work with members of staff across departments and senior staff
  • Ability to work under pressure and willing to work unsociable hours to meet deadlines
  • Dedicated to self-improvement and personal development
  • Organised, methodical and logical approach to work
  • High level IT and presentation skills, in building and delivering relevant information
  • Excellent knowledge of Apple iWork and Microsoft Office software packages
