Brief Description
Lead the development and implementation of pattern matching and trending capabilities and services to maximize the value derived from asset data and information. Oversee the information management function for the team, utilizing various tools and techniques for data capture and automated reporting. Ensuring the accuracy, integrity & security of the data. Collaborate with industry partners, stakeholders, customers, universities, and research organizations to identify and develop technology-based solutions that meet business and industry objectives.
An Information Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of information management strategies. This role involves leading the information management system and working as a specialist, including managing & facilitating data analysts, to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of data. The manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining applicable data governance policies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify information needs, and managing data lifecycle processes and documentation to establish & maintain the robust information processes
About The Role (External)
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage the Information Development team.
- Lead the identification of data, information and technology-based solutions to improve business performance; undertake feasibility studies and develop business cases for further development.
- Lead the development and adoption of pattern matching and trending capabilities to maximise the business benefit from asset data and information.
- Develop contacts in the wider railway community and with other research providers with a view to establishing formal and informal groups for collaborative asset information-related projects.
- Direct specific information-related research and development projects and manage the transfer of viable projects into the appropriate delivery team.
- Engage with all relevant customers and stakeholders within the company and industry to successfully introduce new ways of utilising asset information to achieve set goals and efficiencies.
- Collaborate on, and evaluate, proposed research and development projects, providing sponsorship as required; develop assurance frameworks and KPIs for sponsored and other projects.
- Effectively communicate progress of sponsored and other projects to customers and stakeholders.
- Monitor emerging trends in information management and analysis, and associated technologies, and lead an assessment of their viability for use in the railway’s physical and information environments.
- Consult with other Network Rail teams, suppliers and other stakeholders to identify emerging issues and opportunities.
- Act as the Asset Information representative on research and development groups and committees, promoting the development and integration of asset information to achieve business benefits.
Essential
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in a numerate or engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable excellent analytical and pattern recognition skills.
- Substantial experience of working with stakeholders to understand their requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Excellent knowledge of railway infrastructure and related asset data and systems.
Desirable
- Proven experience in information management or a related field.
- Experience leading and managing teams.
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools.
- Experience working with stakeholders at various levels.
