The Privacy, Transparency & Trust (PTT) Sub-directorate is a sub-directorate of the Delivery Directorate. The mission of the PTT Sub-directorate is to enable NHS England to drive innovation and improve lives through greater use of data and technology and to be a well-run organisation.
The PTT Sub-directorate will enable and promote public trust in NHS England’s custodianship of staff, workforce and patient data. This aligns with the new legal duty of NHS England to have regard to the need to respect and promote privacy of patients and the core principles that underpin NHS England as a safe haven of patient data.
The IG Lead role provides professional expertise, experience and leadership within the PTT Sub-directorate.
The post holder will work in a dynamic team in delivering an effective service providing senior professional expertise to support NHS England programmes achieve their aims ensuring that IG is an enabler and embedding good practice.
- Leading activities and workstreams using highly developed problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
- Drafting key IG documents, including supporting the creation of Directions which are issued by DHSC to NHS England.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues who are not specialists in IG and raising awareness of IG across the organisation.
- Supporting and advising on the use of personal data; risks, mitigations, and requirements of DPIAs.
- Responding to statutory requests for access to personal data and exercise of other rights under the UK GDPR and DPA 2018.
- Advising on the application of the FOI Act 2000 or Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
- Advising on legal bases for sharing personal data with other organisations and the required documentation to facilitate such sharing, including advising on data processing agreements and data sharing agreements, identifying most appropriate controller / processor for processing activities in complex data flows.
- Identifying IG compliance and operational risks and issues, advising on mitigations and escalating where appropriate.
- Producing reports and KPIs to evaluate the organisation’s compliance with IG requirements.
