Infrastructure Engineer (Collaboration and Identity)

Do you have experience of working in a technical team within an enterprise environment? where you’ve been resolving technical problems, delivering upgrades and continuous improvements? if so, this could be the next role for you

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. Where possible, we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.

Salary: Circa £55,000+ (dependant on experience)

Reporting to: Infrastructure Collaboration and Identity Manager

Location: London docklands - Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working at least four days across a fortnight in the office.

About The Role

The Financial Ombudsman Service has been resolving customer complaints since 2001. Our service is free for consumers to use and over 1 million people contact us every year.

Our IT and Transformation teams and their work are closely aligned. Last year we welcomed our new CTO and this year will see him launch the new IT strategy for the department. With the move to cloud computing in 2023 and the ever-changing technology landscape, it is a very exciting time to be joining the Technology team here at the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Our Infrastructure department provides the foundation for all IT services and delivers communication services for the organisation. The Collaboration and Identity team sits within Infrastructure and provides core Identity (Active Directory, Entra, SSO) and Collaboration (Email, Telephony, MS Teams) technologies to the business.

What You'll Do

  • You will be the go-to person for anything related to the systems you are supporting, delivering support, maintenance, and improvements.
  • Take ownership of technical development and ensure SLAs for day-to-day support are met.
  • Continuously updating your advanced technical knowledge.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to build relationships and understand requirements and improvements that can be made.

What We’re Looking For As a Minimum Criteria

  • Well organised with strong attention to detail – you’ll be writing and maintaining design, installation and configuration documentation.
  • Experience working in a technical team in an enterprise environment. where you’ve been resolving technical problems, delivering upgrades and continuous improvements.
  • Experienced in defining technical solutions to meet requirements – you’ll have carried out implementation and detailed level support, including processing architectural changes.
  • Fosters a culture of customer first, focuses on continual upskilling, and mentoring junior members of the team.

Evidenced technical depth across the following:

  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange Server (Including Exchange on-prem, online and hybrid configuration)
  • Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies:
  • EntraID and EntraConnect
  • MS Teams
  • Outlook
  • Email systems routing and configuration (DKIM, SPF, DMARC etc)
