Role Profile
As an Insurance and Risk Manager based in London, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Unispace's assets, operations, and financial stability across our global design and build enterprise. This position involves managing a complex landscape of international risks and insurance requirements, spanning both strategic oversight and hands-on management of our global insurance programs and risk mitigation efforts.
Responsibilities - Global Insurance Program Management:
- Design, procure, and manage Unispace's comprehensive global insurance portfolio, including but not limited to General Liability, Professional Indemnity/Errors & Omissions, Property, Directors & Officers (D&O), Cyber, Business Interruption, Workers' Compensation, and Marine Cargo.
- Negotiate advantageous terms, conditions, and premiums with brokers and insurers to ensure optimal coverage at competitive costs.
- Oversee policy renewals and amendments across all international operations, ensuring continuity and relevance of coverage.
- Risk Identification, Assessment & Mitigation:
- Develop and implement a robust global risk management framework and associated policies and procedures.
- Proactively identify, assess, and monitor a wide spectrum of risks specific to a global design and build company, encompassing operational, financial, strategic, compliance, legal, and reputational risks.
- Develop and implement effective strategies and controls to mitigate identified risks, collaborating closely with various internal departments such as Legal, Project Management, Finance, and Operations.
- Contract Review & Compliance:
- Review client, subcontractor, and vendor contracts to thoroughly assess insurance requirements, risk allocation, and indemnification clauses.
- Ensure contractual terms align with Unispace's risk appetite and advise project teams on relevant insurance needs and implications for specific projects.
- Claims Management:
- Oversee the entire claims process for all types of insurance policies across the Group.
- Liaise effectively with brokers, insurers, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective claims resolution.
- Analyze claims data to identify emerging trends and inform proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Crisis Management & Business Continuity:
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and testing of global crisis management and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.
- Training & Awareness:
- Develop and deliver targeted training programs for internal teams on risk management principles, insurance policies, and claims procedures.
- Actively promote and foster a strong, proactive risk-aware culture throughout the organization.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Management:
- Prepare clear and concise reports for senior management and the board on key risk exposures, insurance coverage status, claims performance, and ongoing risk mitigation efforts.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional global teams (e.g., Finance, Legal, Operations, HR) and external partners (brokers, insurers).
Skills & Experiences
- Proven experience in an Insurance, Risk Management, or Corporate Finance role, ideally within a global or multi-entity organization.
- Strong understanding of various insurance lines relevant to the design, construction, or real estate industries (e.g., Professional Indemnity, General Liability, Contractor's All Risks).
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate a broad range of business risks (operational, financial, compliance, reputational).
- Experience with contract review from an insurance and risk perspective.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic global environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software for risk management, claims tracking, or financial analysis.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACII, IRM, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
