Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with 3-7 years' experience to join our Insurance Solutions team. The team is comprised of capital market experts with backgrounds in Quantitative Finance, Economics and Mathematics including actuaries and investment experts. Given the challenging needs of insurance companies, the team takes a technical approach to designing investment solutions which are grounded in sound financial economics. The team's unique mix of finance, insurance and quantitative needs means it is an exciting team for those who are quantitatively or analytically minded but enjoy sharing and explaining investment ideas and solutions.

The base

The team
This role sits within the Insurance Solutions team, part of the Schroders Solutions division. The purpose of the team is twofold. Firstly, the team engages with clients in order to understand their investment needs and objectives and to design innovative investment solutions that solve those challenges. Secondly, the team works with investment desks in order to tailor investment processes to meet the clients' unique requirements including accounting, actuarial and regulatory considerations. The team has experienced rapid growth over the past 5 years working across the globe with some of the largest insurance companies.
What You'll Do
- Develop and extend existing investment analytics and tools to support client requests and needs
- Designing investment solutions for new and changing client solutions
- Engage with clients including new business presentations and ongoing collaboration for existing relationships
- Keep up-to-date on regulatory changes that will impact the investment needs of insurance companies globally including Solvency II, Solvency UK, Bermuda and other regimes, as well as changes to accounting standards
- Work with teams responsible for business development and client relationships to promote Schroders and wider capabilities
- Promote Schroders' thought leadership to a wide audience including publications, press and conference presentations
- Develop, in collaboration with other areas, new products and solutions for both the institutional and intermediated markets
The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need
- Strong technical skills and demonstrable numerical skills with a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) in a quantitative degree
- Demonstrable coding skills and familiarity with Matlab, R, Python or equivalent
- Familiarity with asset liability management and portfolio selection
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), presentation and sales skills
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders and represent Schroders to clients
- Ability to show initiative and effectively prioritise tasks
- Capacity to work cooperatively with other teams on a number of concurrent projects
- Ability to work in a team to tight deadlines
The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications That Will Help
- Understanding of the Solvency II and UK regulatory frameworks and/or other global capital regimes, with a focus on its impact on insurance asset management
- One or more languages besides English would be highly desirable
- Actuarial qualifications are highly desirable but not essential
