Internal Auditor

Role purpose

• The role requires the ability to effectively collaborate with all business areas of responsibility to secure their buy-in and implement improvements to systems, processes, and technology, as appropriate.
• To apply knowledge and insights concerning the Internal audit function and how this impacts our policyholders.
• To deliver strong business outcomes relating to capital, profitability, the Company brand and market reputation whilst achieving positive outcomes to our Board Committees on a consistent basis.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Internal Audit of within the Internal Audit function:

Conducting audits

• Support delivery of internal audits, including developing the internal audit scope, carrying out test plan, drafting Audit reports, and documenting sufficient workpapers to meet PIC standards.
• Responsible for carrying out regular issue assurance to ensure adequate closure of actions.

Methodology and Technical

• Conducts thorough analysis of good practice and standards of internal audit in order to make recommendations for improving the Audit methodology.
• Effectively collaborates with stakeholders in designing new templates and contributing to the development of the Internal Audit manual.

Reporting

• Contribute to the preparation of internal audit status update reports and integrated assurance reports to management and Board committees.
• Support the production of the annual written assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of PIC's risk management, internal control and governance processes and systems.

Stakeholder relationships

• Work in cooperation and in consultation with defined areas of the business, to deliver a "no surprises" audit approach, whilst becoming an ambassador of PIC Internal Audit.
• Develop a partnership and trust relationship with the business at an operational level, working with the business to propose relevant and proportionate actions to address issues identified.

Projects

• Work on specific defined projects and initiatives (in Internal Audit or in the business), agreeing scope and objectives, undertaking work, producing reports, presenting reports and measuring outcomes. This will be as part of developing broader experience and capability across PIC.

Requirements

Knowledge

• Good technical knowledge of risk and controls.
• Established knowledge of report writing techniques used for Board committees.
• Basic knowledge of Internal Audit.

Experience

• Experience of delivering to a structured approach and ability to plan work.
• Experience of internal controls and governance process and systems.
• Willingness to learn, understand the business and internal audit.
• Capable and willing to work towards passing apprentice scheme or relevant qualifications, including further studying in business, finance or audit, in order to develop internal audit skills.
