The opportunity

The key function of this role is to support the effective delivery of a broad range of Internal Communications projects and ensure the smooth running of day to day internal communications.


The Internal Communications Manager will operate as part of the brand and marketing communications teams and liaise closely with MBD and other business services colleagues, lawyers and partners across the international firm.


The role is ideal for an individual who is a motivated self-starter with a great eye for detail.


The team

You’ll be joining our Central Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team who work in partnership with senior stakeholders across the firm to set the strategy and shape the tactics to build our firm's profile, win new work and strengthen and deepen client relationships.


The team is mostly based in London and is made up of over 60 specialists in marketing communications, business development and client service. As a central team we lead global activities while working closely with our network of MBD colleagues based across our international offices. Whether it's driving a new content strategy, pitching for cutting-edge work, building our brand, or contributing to the development of our client relationships, we're committed to providing exceptional service to the firm and are known for leading the way when it comes to new technology and solutions. What you'll do

  • Overall responsibility for global and London internal communications function
  • Ownership of global and London internal communications channels such as newsletters, the intranet, video, and apps
  • Line management of Internal Communications Executive and Senior Video & Brand Executive
  • Work closely with other Business Services teams to devise and deliver internal communications plans and content for major initiatives, including HR, D&I, CSR and IT projects and rollouts
  • Collaborate with the wider Marketing Communications team (PR, social media, digital, Brand etc.) to deliver the internal element of firm announcements and campaigns
  • Work with senior leadership, including the firm’s CEO and Chair, to deliver leadership and strategy communications
  • Responsibility for bringing the firm’s brand and culture to life through internal communications, with a heavy focus on implementing a new employer brand concept in the firm
  • Advising and supporting the international MBD team on internal communications best practice and approaches, helping the team to share their successes, initiatives, and goals
  • Measurement and reporting against internal communications metrics
  • Guide and advise on the communications element of the firm’s global alumni programme


About you

  • Project management
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent MS skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Experience of using email marketing software
  • Video experience preferable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills
  • Flexible and “can-do” approach
  • Understanding of different cultures and their way of working
  • Ability to work closely together with colleagues at all levels
  • Understand impact of international network
  • Strong international strategic thinking
  • Strong understanding of and interest in D&I


The main responsibilities of this role are outlined above; however, this description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department. The role may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am- 5:30pm.
