JOB TITLE: INTERNAL CONTROLS LEAD

Key Responsibilities

  • This role will drive the development of financial governance, risk & internal control in Asset Solutions. This role has overall responsibility to drive improvement in financial governance, raise risk awareness, improve financial risk management support the strengthening and streamlining of controls within the business and facilitate financial process improvement/efficiency
  • Work closely with the Asset Solutions VP, Finance Director and FPA leads to help raise awareness of minimum financial control standards
  • Responsible for coordination of the bi-annually Financial Control Questionnaires (COSA) and process to ensure gaps in controls are followed up and addressed including completion and reporting
  • Provide training and general awareness sessions to functional teams to embed policy and financial control requirements or other related topics
  • Business Point of contact for all Group Lead internal audits
  • Overview of actions to prevent and clear overdue actions, including Internal Audit actions
  • Lead various internal control, process improvement and optimisation, or other projects as directed by the Finance Director or VP
  • Internal Controls governance site visits and desktop reviews of Asset Solutions entities, focusing on compliance to CORS.
  • Leads the governance of balance sheet control including balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring of compliance across the BU
  • Responsible for ensuring Documentation of Asset Solutions Finance processes are prepared and current, along with key risks and controls, ensuring alignment with Group policies
  • Work with Business to improve and simplify current processes and controls through automation, consistency of process etc.
  • Responsible for supervision of Internal Controls Accountant
  • Responsible for completion of Annual Insurance declaration
  • Responsible for Annual review of insurance burdens and subsequent liaising with Payroll and Commercial regarding the update of rate.
  • Preparation of Insurance Balance Sheet reconciliation
  • Escalating issues to the Finance Director – Asset Solutions Controlling when required and keeping them briefed on the teams activities
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Essential Qualifications And Skills

  • Fully qualified accountant, ICAS/ACCA/ACT or equivalent
  • Understanding of internal control framework and underlying accounting principles
  • Experience working on an ERP system, ideally Oracle
  • High proficiency in Excel and experience in MS Office
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Excellent self-management and organisational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills essential for regular interaction with BU teams
  • Confident to challenge on issues and proactively find solutions and implement
  • No budget accountability
  • Complex business structure with >180 quasi entities which require oversight from internal controls perspective and planned remediation of issues
  • Accountable to Group Finance and Audit committee on reporting of compliance of end to end Finance processes of Asset Solutions in line with Petrofac Financial Controls Assurance Framework Standard
  • Role requires continuous improvement and proactive mindset in identifying and resolving controls issues as they arise.
  • Ability to network internally to understand issues and then develop solution(s) based on feedback from all relevant parties.
  • Approval to be sought from Finance Director prior to implementation of proposed resolutions.
  • Responsible for revisions of existing processes and procedures as well as creation of new local procedures as required.
