Job Title: Internal Quality Assurer

About The Role
The role of the IQA is to make an informed judgement(s) regarding the practice of, and decisions made by, the assessment team to maintain standards.
Responsibilities
- Work with the IOSH Academy to ensure that assessors are fully briefed and carry out their roles appropriately.
- Monitoring the Study Centre's assessment practice and procedures by carrying out interim and summative sampling
- Reviewing learners at different stages of the programme delivery and assessment process
- Evaluating the quality of formative guidance on assessment
- Evaluating the effectiveness of assessment planning
- Ensuring standards are maintained and assessment decisions are consistent and standardised
- Ensuring the appropriate conduct of assessments (internal and external)
- Ensuring that any IOSH AO action points are implemented within agreed timescales
- Ensuring that records of assessment are kept accurately and securely immediately after assessment.
- Ensuring that the Study Centre's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy is implemented.
- Providing feedback to assessors, the Study Centre primary IOSH AO contact and the IOSH AO EQA role.
- Upholding the quality and standards of the IOSH AO award.
- Conducting a minimum of two standardisation meetings per year.
The Person
Knowledge
- Knowledge of quality systems, assessments, and processes
- Knowledge of assessment and training principles
- Demonstrate understanding of OSH sector
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent organisation and planning skills
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Robust IT skills
- Excellent record keeping and attention to details, including working to defined processes and conditions
- Ability to meet agreed deadlines
- Self-assurance and ability to confidently ask questions
Experience
- Experience of marking qualification assessments, with IOSH or another AO
- Assessment experience and knowledge of assessment types and methods appropriate for the qualifications being assessed
- Experience of working in a Health and Safety environment
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of IQA
- Experience of giving constructive feedback to assessors
Education
- RQF Level 4 IQA Award (Essential - we may still consider an application if you are working towards the qualification)
- Relevant subject expert, qualified to at least Level 6 in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Sector or equivalent experience (Essential)
- Hold Grad IOSH or Chartered Membership status with IOSH (Desirable)
