Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £41,800 to £50,000 and London £46,000 to £55,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

We must be globally effective, building and using close relations with other regulators, shaping the international regulatory agenda, and harnessing international innovation and experience to improve our own performance.

The International Division leads our strategy for international engagement, working collaboratively across the FCA to ensure the organisation delivers on its international priorities. We are currently reviewing and reforming our international approach. This role would sit at the heart of these efforts at a fascinating and challenging time. As a result, you will help shape the future of financial services in the UK and overseas for years to come.

We are recruiting for a number of roles at Associate level across the International Division, which comprises five teams:

The Global Institutions team, the Global Strategy and Engagement team, the European Strategy and Engagement Team, the Market Access team and the International Strategy and Delivery Team (ISD).

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities

We are looking for talented individuals who can contribute to complex, high-profile and fast-moving portfolios in an often-uncertain policy environment. Good organisational, analysis and communication skills are essential. Set responsibilities will depend on the role in question, but may include:

  • Supporting the FCAs international engagement on specific topics, or with specific jurisdictions and institutions; monitoring the work and output of international bodies or other international stakeholders, ensuring intelligence and policy developments are understood effectively throughout the FCA;
  • Working in collaboration with others across the International Division and wider FCA on influencing and advocacy approaches across key policy areas and drafting briefings to support engagement
  • Working with a wide network of internal and external stakeholders to develop policy positions on key issues of common interest to the UK; horizon scanning for relevant market trends and developments, identifying potential risks to the FCA’ s objectives
  • Working and supporting other teams within the International Division and across the FCA, contributing to the development and delivery of the FCA’s overall strategy for international engagement
  • Supporting and influencing on the development and delivery of international strategy
  • Helping develop the UK’s approach to trade and market access issues, including working on relevant policies and assessments of overseas jurisdictions

Which skills are required?

Minimum

  • Prior regulatory or financial services experience
  • Prior experience of the international financial regulatory agenda
  • Prior experience in a role which has required great analytical and written communication skills

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and develop relationships across cultural differences
  • Organisational, prioritisation, time management and delivery skills, including the ability to ensure delivery of a range of workstreams over time
  • Judgement, including strong ability to prioritise a number of demands and knowing when to deal with a problem oneself and when to escalate;
  • Proven clear, succinct oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm, resilient and approachable under pressure

  • We are recruiting for 6 Full Time Associates
