Inventory Controller and Parts Manager (88478)

Location – Staythorpe Power Station

Contract Type – Permanent

Working Hours – Full Time

Closing date - 6th January

Main Purpose of the Role

  • You will be an integral member of the site operations and maintenance team and provide end-to-end support to the asset within your area of discipline.
  • Utilise your background knowledge and experience in the field of asset inventory control, preferably in a large industrial environment but alternate industries are considered.
  • Ensuring effective management of the on-site stores, procurement operations including ordering, receiving and issuing of stock.
  • Ensuring correct budget allocation and annual stock audit.
  • Service contract management, for example, industrial chemicals, gasses and PPE management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management and Stock control - Implementing effective processes for receiving goods according to RWE procedures. You will also manage physical stock checks and ensure new spares are correctly commodity coded in the system and entered into the correct location.
  • While arranging transport of goods to other locations, you will retrieve/distribute stock from stores and update IT systems. You will also operate various mobile plant and other vehicles to collect/redistribute stock and ensure stock is safe and secure.
  • Interface between O&M, Procurement and Accounts Payable – Coordinate resolutions of inventory and supply queries, and ensure stock is delivered safely on time and within budget.
  • Engaging with suppliers of stock and consumables – Communicating promptly with suppliers ensuring clear standards and expectations.
  • Improvements - Identify and deliver improvements in stock optimisation and management.
  • Flexible Working - Support the O&M (operations and maintenance) team with the management and maintenance of tooling and equipment (machine and hand). Assist the station O&M team in breakdowns and outages, including appropriate out of hours and weekend working to meet the needs of the business.
  • Health, safety & environmental compliance - Meet both legislative and corporate requirements and standards on safety, whilst taking ownership of plant and equipment policies & procedures.

Knowledge & Skills

  • A high standard of knowledge in their discipline area of procurement and asset management
  • Competent in the use of SAP procurement and stores modules.
  • Counterbalance Fork lift truck, reach truck, all terrain FLT (training provided)
  • Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience of working in & overseeing teams with strong people skills & communication skills. A proven track record of high performance in an asset role.
  • Strong knowledge of the wider power generation process and how their discipline fits, demonstrates the ability to deal with constantly changing priorities. Attention to detail is essential; methodical, innovative, numerate and well organised.
  • Developing the business culture through engagement and encouragement with all staff within their teams and wider portfolio. Driving openness & collaboration at all levels.
