Purpose
This purpose of this role is broken into two areas:
- The primary purpose of this role is to provide local on-site support, where you reside (flexible working considered), in relations to hands-on “End User Computing” and local Applications needs, as required.
- The secondary purpose is to provide support to other colleagues on other BVI sites, in relations to hands-off “End User Computing” and Applications needs, as required.
Key Responsibilities - Provide (but not limited to) 1 st /2 nd line IT Helpdesk support to the BVI global users for “end user computing”,
- Maintains Helpdesk tickets, prioritising work, updating steps for corrective action, and communicates with customers any timescales and progress reports as required
- Creating and updating Knowledgebase articles for end users and other IT personnel
- Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a range of hardware devices including desktops, laptops, printers, IP phones, iPhones, iPads, handheld scanners and other peripherals
- Deploys, maintains, and troubleshoots client operating systems on desktops and laptops, using imaging technologies
- Conducts software installations and support, including upgrades, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting as required
- Maintains accurate records of hardware assets via the IT Assets Database and co-ordinates with accounts department. Actively participates in the updating of hardware and recycling of old equipment
- Supporting users and troubleshooting issues with a range of systems including:
- Business systems (ERP, CRM, Scanning, Printing, etc.)
- Power BI
- Microsoft Office / Office 365
- Windows 10/11 Operating Systems
- Windows Servers
- Veeam
- VMware
- Liaises with internal IT teams
- Liaises with external suppliers and support providers where required.
- Other duties as required
Qualification
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Must be able to speak English fluently.
- 4+ years working in either an application or desktop support role.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure and independently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Any exposure to ERP / CRM systems or reporting technologies would be advantageous.
- Any exposure to networking systems or cyber security technologies would be advantageous.
- Any exposure to Basic PowerShell and batch scripting experience would be advantageous.
- Any exposure to hardware & software installation and configuration would be advantageous.
- Any exposure to Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Office suite of applications, and Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange administration would be advantageous.
- Any exposure to LAN, network access, internet, email, printer support experience would be advantageous.
- Any exposure to Basic SQL query writing experience would be advantageous.
Minimum Required Education And Experience
- Minimum 3 year’s experience providing IT or Application support in a manufacturing environment
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (O365)
Physical Requirements
- Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
- Extensive use of headset and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
- Regular sitting for extended periods of time.
- Carrying heavy equipment
- May require occasional travel.
