Description

We are seeking Junior Associates to join our growing Pensions team in Belfast. This role would be suited to someone due to qualify in 2025 or any newly qualified solicitors with up to 1 year PQE.

Previous experience in employment or pensions law is desirable but not essential. If you interested in legislative or case law, or have an interest in working on complex legal issues and getting into the detail of the law, we would love to hear from you!

What you will do

A&O Shearman's global employment and compensation practice brings together the expertise of around 150 dedicated lawyers across our global network. As part of the Pensions team you will:

  • Providing strategic guidance to clients on pension scheme and related matters.
  • Advising on restructuring programmes, pension fund governance, pension plan changes, management and governance.
  • Advise on pension law and engage with Pensions Regulator.
  • Attend client meetings
  • Manage client expectations and project delivery appropriately
  • Business development - development of personal plan; assistance with and implementation of business development campaign
  • Legal research
  • Drafting, reviewing and amending documentation

What you will have

  • Newly qualified lawyer or qualified lawyer with 1-2 year's PQE.
  • Detail-focused and self-motivated approach
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels and particularly to win the respect of the partner and fee-earner community, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to develop and work in a fast paced, intellectually rigorous environment
