Applications are invited from committed and enthusiastic doctors for the above post based at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital (QCCH), with a start date of the 5th August 2025 initially for 6 months with the option to extend to 12 months. Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital is part of Imperial NHS trust and was recently awarded Outstanding by CQC. It is a unique tertiary unit offering exceptional care to women in pregnancy and beyond. We have specialist services in preterm birth, maternal medicine, fetal medicine, early pregnancy, acute gynaecology, fertility, menopause and gynae-oncology.
The post holder will cover both obstetrics and gynaecology, providing care in antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology wards, antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics, the maternity day assessment and the early pregnancy units. There are opportunities to gain training in ultrasound and basic surgical techniques and to attend our specialist clinics including preterm birth, obstetric medicine, fetal medicine, fertility, gynae-oncology, menopause and rapid access gynaecology clinics. Active participation in audit and quality improvement is encouraged and there is ample opportunity to get involved with our many research projects within the department.
The post holder will take part in regular morning ward rounds of in-patients in both obstetrics and gynecology. Under supervision they will assess patients in the maternity day assessment and the early pregnancy and acute gynecology unit and in obstetrics and gynecology outpatient clinics.
The post holder will also cover labour ward and will have the opportunity to gain experience in basic operating techniques on our daily elective caesarean section lists which are covered by a consultant obstetrician. As part of their role the post holder will assist in providing pre, intra and postoperative care for patients within our leading gynae-oncology service.
There is some flexibility in the rota to allow specialist interest sessions and time to complete audit, quality improvement or research projects.
