Junior Designer (Motion)

Intermission Film is looking for a Junior Motion Graphics Designer to join our dynamic London team and collaborate with a wider global network of designers. You’ll help create engaging graphics for social media, trailers, digital outdoor advertising, feature content, title sequences, and TV campaigns and support the senior team.. Working with high-profile entertainment clients this role has a strong focus on Social Media Marketing assets, so a genuine passion for social content and digital trends is highly desirable.

You should be primarily skilled in 2D Motion Graphics with a solid foundation in typography and graphic design. Experience in rotoscoping and compositing is desired, while knowledge of 3D design is a plus. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a strong desire to learn and grow within the role.

As a Junior, your main responsibility will be to support the motion team across a wide range of projects with creative support from the senior team. Over time, you’ll gain more ownership working on exciting and varied briefs. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll learn new things, share ideas, and help shape the creative output of the team.

A passion for film and TV is essential. This role is office-based.

What you will do…

• Working in Adobe After Effects and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, to execute a job
• Assisting on research and development of projects; sharing exciting new creative references with the team
• Putting together mood boards and presentations
• Assisting the senior creative team with amends etc.
• Brainstorming and collaborating with producers, editors, and creative directors - with a key focus on Social campaigns.
• Creating mockups of Social campaign ideas for pitch decks
• Problem-solving and coming up with creative solutions to new challenges
• Demonstrating a keen eye for quality checking & project organisation
• Working to deadlines and communicating with producers regarding timelines
• Working with teams in our global offices (New York, Amsterdam, and Melbourne)
• Ensuring communication between offices is fluid, being assertive in flagging issues, clear in handovers and realistic about time management
• Keeping up to date with design trends whilst developing and learning new skills and software
• Keeping up engagement/awareness with Social Media advertising in Film & TV and also wider trends on key social platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram etc)
• Continuing to strive for fresh and exciting motion design approaches to Socials
• Creatively interpreting project briefs

What we need from you…

• 1-2 years experience working in a busy and fast-paced creative environment
• Creative thinking, curiosity, and passion for Motion Design and 2D Animation
• A strong team player
• Strong organisation skills and attention to detail with the ability to QC materials
• Good level in Adobe After Effects
• Basic level of Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
• Good understanding and appreciation of typography & static design
• Good time management with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and keep a level head under pressure in a reactive environment with quick turnaround times
• Collaborative with the ability to work well as part of a team and create strong working relationships
• A calm and professional manner
• A proactive problem solver with a flexible and adaptable approach
• Fast learner and adaptable
• Focused and self-motivated

Desirable…

• Experience working in a trailer house, design agency, or creative agency
• Other Creative Cloud applications (eg. Premiere)
• Cinema 4D
• Tracking, rotoscoping and compositing
• A curiosity and awareness of new programmes and technologies available to motion designers.
