Purpose
As Land & Estates Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver a robust and comprehensive Estate Management strategy.
Working closely across the department with internal stakeholders and external parties, including key landowners, to build and develop high level relationships, you will comply with all professional standards in Real Estate as well as business specific and regulatory compliance to ensure an independent and fully professional approach to all aspects of land delivery and management.
Managing a team who are responsible for significant land contract management, you will implement department processes and reporting to ensure full compliance whilst tracking and managing department KPI’s with full alignment to business objectives and project delivery goals.
Responsibilities
Leading a team of professionally qualified Real Estates experts, you will be required to negotiate, manage and add value to a significant mixed portfolio of operational land and assets.
Mitigating financial and operational risk to ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements, you will also ensure land rights are managed and all lease events actioned accordingly without risk.
Supporting the development and delivery of land strategies which will aid the delivery of business objectives and business operating plans, you will be required to advise and prevent potentials of multi-million-pound compensation claims across the portfolio.
Including Real Estate experts, you will also lead and develop a team of Chartered Surveyors, ensuring accountability for delivery, ensuring the team have relevant skills, knowledge and capability to meet commercial, compliance and legal needs in relation to the delivery of an effective Estate Management strategy.
Supporting and challenging department budgets, mitigating any increased costs whilst ensuring full compliance with all legal and compliance across portfolio and land rights, you will work collaboratively across Land & Estates and ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) Management team to deliver best value from any contracting and tendering with appropriate consideration given to opportunities, maximising support from any 3rd party supply chain to enhance delivery and reduce costs.
Engaging with wider SPR stakeholders to advise, guide and ensure a value-added approach to Estate Management, you will also present and influence at middle management level across the ScottishPower organisation which will also include attendance at boards and key project forums where required.
This is a key role to ensure representation of SPR Estates across any business plan submission which will have an impact on land rights delivery and consequential financial requirements.
What you’ll bring
Educated to degree level in a Real Estate discipline, you will be a Member of RICS with demonstratable PQE.
Experienced in the management of land portfolios for high-profile infrastructure and energy projects across the UK, you have an open, inclusive and approachable style of management which is required to lead collaboration across the team, stakeholders and SPR.
With a detailed understanding of the Energy market, with particular focus on relevant business areas for the short-medium-long-term targets, you will have the ability to promote professional standards as well as being a key role model holding a high-profile position across the ScottishPower business.
Experienced in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior colleagues, Solicitors and external industry peers to develop strategies, objectives, policies and procedures which are designed to achieve the highest performance levels for a land and property portfolio, you will work autonomously on high profile, time of the essence projects, recognising the need for support and sensitivity where required.
Being proactive with an ability to recognise opportunities for efficiencies and new approaches, you will keep abreast of wider market factors that will influence land delivery strategy, including growing and developing a network of key contacts to aid such.
Utilising your strong leadership credentials in managing a team of Chartered Surveyors with responsibility to develop and execute a Real Estate strategy, you will possess a strong ability to mentor, coach and develop the team, ensuring the correct allocation of resource exists to meet an ever-changing workload and demand whilst ensuring compliance with regulations and standards pertaining to all aspects of the built environment.
