We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Senior Controls Accountant to join our Finance team. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a robust controls environment for our organisation, with a focus on ensuring financial data accuracy and providing expert support, guidance, and insightful analysis to Finance and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities:
- This role is responsible for building, improving, and maintaining a robust controls environment within a highly regulated financial services business. The focus is on ensuring financial data accuracy and providing support, understanding, and advice to Finance and the wider business through clear, insightful analysis of financial transactions
- Perform, manage, and review key tasks on a daily and monthly basis in line with the month-end timetable.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and prompt communication of issues to senior management, identify risk and opportunities.
- Create, execute, and assess complex reconciliations, collaborating with account owners to resolve discrepancies.
- Deliver timely month-end performance analysis for the Board of Management, offering valuable insights through trend analysis and ad-hoc investigations.
- Keep abreast of accounting, regulatory, and compliance legislation, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Identify and investigate system and process faults, prioritising issues, and contributing to the development of Business Requirements Documents and Change Requests.
- Support the Manager in daily operations, maintaining efficiency and team focus, and establishing clear objectives.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), possessing a strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and systems.
- Proficient in accounting and contract management systems, with a solid understanding of the controls environment.
- Proven experience in designing, executing and reviewing reconciliations.
- Strong coaching skills and the ability to inspire, develop, engage, and motivate colleagues to perform
- Expertise in extracting, validating, and analysing financial data, including commentary.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and an up-to-date awareness of relevant legislation.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting and financial modelling.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proactive individual with an excellent approach to customer service.

As part of our hybrid working arrangements, we are giving our colleagues the opportunity to work a minimum of one day in the Milton Keynes office however flexibility is expected, and you can work in the office more if you'd prefer.
