Functional area: Operations & Maintenance

RWE Renewables Management UK Limited seeks a skilled and experienced Lead Technician to join our Galloper Wind Farm Operations & Maintenance team based in Harwich, Essex. As a key team member, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our offshore wind farm. You will provide leadership, guidance, and support to technicians in areas such as Wind Turbine Safety Rules, general safety, work planning and execution, technical guidance, quality, and conduct.

About the role:

  • Become authorised as the site Authorising Engineer and be responsible for all associated processes and authority under the RWE Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSRs)
  • Coordinate offshore site activities with key contractors and maintenance coordinators
  • Optimise planning and performance of site maintenance delivery to increase offshore work resource efficiency and maximize availability and production
  • Function as a bridge between the onshore and offshore teams, optimising maintenance, servicing, and inspection of wind turbines and balance of plant
  • Develop and support offshore technicians, including providing appropriate training and coaching
  • Ensure all teams work in a coordinated manner through standardised working practices
  • Provide advice to the onshore team on offshore operational issues
  • Conduct offshore maintenance and servicing of wind turbines and balance of plant
  • Be prepared to work a shift pattern and occasionally travel to other sites as needed
  • Proactively assist in all areas of site operations, including projects, spares, and non-routine works

Job requirements and experience:

  • Qualified for troubleshooting and commissioning on Siemens Gamesa direct drive wind turbines and balance of plant
  • Extensive knowledge of fault finding, maintenance, and commissioning of industrial plant
  • Comprehensive understanding of HSSE systems and safe work environments
  • The ability to maintain and troubleshoot complex systems including experience in mechanical, electrical, control, and hydraulic components
  • Ability to work well within a small team with minimal supervision
  • Good IT office skills and familiarity with maintenance management through SAP, as well as good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • First Aid at Work, Working at Heights Training/Tower Rescue, offshore survival, and offshore medical certifications
  • Willingness to travel to occasionally support other sites, as well as having a full UK driving license

Advantageous, but not essential:

  • Relevant HNC or equivalent qualification
  • IOSH/NEBOSH certification

Shift Pattern: 7 days on and 7 days off
