Job Purpose

To provide proactive, outcome-focused leadership, driving improved performance of their pressure and leakage teams to ensure the network is operable, effectively pressure managed and that we are meeting our leakage targets.

Responsible for the promotion of leakage work to deliver the above outcomes, ensuring all operations are customer focused, safe and efficient.

Management of their Leakage team; which will include Leakage Team Leaders and Leakage Technicians. In addition each LOM will take regional responsibility for and additional team i.e. Night Leakage; Network Maintenance; Upstream Leakage; Leakage Systems or a Strategic project i.e. West Cumbria; Pressure Optimisation.

Job Accountabilities

  • Work collaboratively with other area-based Leakage Optimisation Managers to implement approved strategies to meet regional operability, pressure and leakage targets
  • Work closely with the Network Performance, Customer and Network Managers to meet customer, operational, financial, and regulatory performance targets.
  • Manage the leakage contract, ensuring effectiveness and productivity in line with contractual obligations.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of set performance and regulatory standards for operability, pressure and leakage.
  • Manage associated Opex and Capex leakage budgets, maximising opportunities to control costs and maintain effectiveness of our people and partners.
  • Ensure the safety of employees and contractors by meeting all relevant safety standards and assisting in the development and delivery of Safety Health Improvement Plans
  • Own the area succession plan and be responsible for employee training and development.
  • Provide arbitration to the Private Leakage Repair and Defective Fittings processes when required.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Relevant industry or functional experience.
  • Working knowledge of operability, pressure management and leakage identification and resolution, preferably supported by experience working in an operational environment.
  • A sound understanding of the regulatory framework and the company’s leakage obligations.
  • An awareness of the high profile that leakage holds for our customers and stakeholders, including the potential brand impact and financial implications of under or over performance.
  • Demonstrable people management experience – able to motivate, engage and lead analytical and field resources to deliver the company’s leakage strategy.
  • Experience of managing a budget, including the prioritisation of delivery of targets against budgetary constraints, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Good analytical skills as well as evaluative judgment based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information, supporting the ability to make operational and strategic decisions relating to leakage.
  • Good communications skills, including the ability to clearly articulate key messages to peers, superiors and direct reports.
